Tasty!
I purchased some food-based items via ‘Swiggy’ app, utilising its ‘Instamart’ services. This product was among those purchased.Manufactured by brand “Lay’s” under its ‘Wafer Style’ range of products, this product contains potato crisps in ‘Sundried Chilli’ flavour. The list of ingredients mentions Palmolein Oil, Rice Bran Oil, and Corn Oil (stated under ‘seasoning’) as edible vegetable oils utilised.Palmolein oil has environmental concerns associated with it. The manufacturer should consider utilising another oil suitable for the purpose.‘Maltodextrin’ (stated under ‘seasoning’) has to be accepted as the ‘norm’ these days when it comes to food products. The ‘seasoning’ is classified as ‘flavouring agent’. The spices and condiments have not been specified, but they do contain onion and garlic as per the list of ingredients. As implied by the term ‘wafer style’, the potato crisps are cut ‘thin’. The crisps have a ‘crunch’ to them, albeit not ‘hard’ as to hurt one’s mouth when consumed.Upon taste, the flavour of the crisps is highly reminiscent of that of “Lay’s” India’s ‘Magic Masala’ potato chips. The ‘Magic Masala’ chips are not cut ‘wafer style’, and have specks of herbs visible on them. The ‘Sundried Chilli’ crisps have no specks on them. The crisps are seasoned well. The spice primarily felt is, as expected, red chilli powder. There is a subtle aftertaste akin to that of cooked (not caramelised) onion. The crisps are enjoyable for people with a moderate-to-high spice tolerance. They can be had on their own, or paired with a dip/soft drink beverage of one’s choice.Overall, this product is worth trying out.
