Issues in other reviews fixed
I purchased this Kindle book in June 09, and the issues listed below in a 3-star review have been taken to heart and fixed by the book creators. The book now has multiple means of navigating. First, there is the table of contents (ToC) to guide you to book and chapter of the Bible. Also, at the top of each chapter is a link to navigate back to the both the book and chapter ToC. Also, there are links within the text to a dictionary of terms. This last feature seems basic, but it might help as you read. Very nicely done Bible for the Kindle. Words of Christ are in plain black text and, just as in the printed version, quotations from the OT found in the NT are in bold. The text runs almost to the edge of the screen, so you get more text on the screen on the iPhone/iPod Touch.I prefer the HCSB as it provides a fresh conservative translation of the Scriptures and is more readable than the ESV and more literal than the NIV. I still use the NASB for English word studies, as it is the most literal, but for daily reading, I like the HCSB best.

Kindle HCSB Needs an Editor's Touch
**Update** An editor corrected the errors listed below, so I've given it all five stars. The HCSB is a wonderful translation of the Bible and the Kindle version is so easy to read. Love it!***Original Review:I love the Holman Christian Standard Bible, but, regretfully, the Kindle version needs a little editing. Here are a few examples:(1Co 1:27)Printed HCSB: Instead, God has chosen the world's foolish things to shame the wise, and God has chosen the world's weak things to shame the strong.Kindle HCSB: Instead, God has chosen the what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.(2Co 2:10)Printed HCSB: Now to whom you forgive anything, I do too. For what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, it is for you in the presence of Christ,Kindle HCSB: If forgive anyone, I do too. For what I have forgiven - if I have forgiven anything - it is for you in the presence of Christ,(2Co 4:6)Printed HCSB: For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness"--He has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ.Kindle HCSB: For God who said, "Let ight [sic] shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ. There are many other errors that are not listed here, unfortunately.By the way, I purchased the Kindle version of the HCSB on April 17, 2010 and the copyright dates are 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003. The copyright dates from the printed version are also 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003.Publisher, please make the corrections available to those of us who have paid for and downloaded this wonderful translation, and correct the current download for future readers. Until then, I am going back to the printed HCSB.

Easiest Navigation of all the Bibles I have on my K2!
I purchased the Kindle2 version of the HCSB today, June 17, 2009, and think it is the easiest to navigate of any Bible I have on my K2. I noticed the negative comments in some reviews were mostly about old purchases so something must has taken place to improve this version. It works seamlessly with the the Easton Bible Dictionary also. Our SS books contain the HCSB and the KJV side by side and it is much easier to read than the KJV with its up-to-date language use. I don't have a single complaint about this one but I can cite a few problematic things about most other versions I have on the Kindle. It's laid out chapter and verse much like the physical version. Tickled with the purchase and if other Kindle owners like the HCSB version they really need to at least try it! I don't think they'll be sorry.

An accurate, affordable translation.
The redeeming quality of this Bible is the translation used, which is the Holman Christian Standard Bible. Personally I think that this is the translation that is the most compatible with the original scriptures, in understandable English. As for the format, I was not quite so pleased. The menus on it for jumping to different books and chapters seemed to lead me around in circles, and it takes a long time on a Kindle to wade through all the links on the page to get to the one you want. Perhaps if they were arranged differently, like one to a line--but here they are all a huge grid that I found frustrating to use. All in all, I am satisfied because at the time of this review it was the only Kindle version of the CSB, and it was affordable, cheaper than my paper version.

It is ok, but not up to the quality ...
It is ok, but not up to the quality I was expecting or hoping for. After reading this Bible (Holman CSB Bible), I prefer to read other Bibles I have: New King James version, the NLT version, and English Standard Version.
