I almost returned this.... glad I didn’t!
This soldering iron kept shutting down when using a USB power bank. But my mistake was not using a Li-Po "PD" power bank so I bought one (Energizer QE20008PQ)and now it works great on the USB cable and remains portable. I'm not interested in using the wall plug-in power provided since it negates the compact & portable feature of this soldering iron. Very pleased that my new PD power bank works perfectly with this iron. Its a beautiful little soldering iron but it packs a punch and gives plenty of heat for your average wire soldering jobs. It heats up super quick which is great. And once you learn the menu system there are a ton of settings. Highly recommend!

TS100 is really an excellent soldering tool
I was surprised at how well this little iron works. It heats up quickly and seems to maintain its set temperature quite well. It operates from input voltages between 12 to 24 VDC; the higher the input voltage, the more quickly it heats. It comes with a 19V switching converter but I had a 24V unit I substituted. I tend to turn irons off when I won't be using them for a while (this one can be placed in standby by pressing both of its buttons simultaneously for a bit). With 24V input, it does go back to its setpoint notably faster than at lower input voltages (and the higher input voltages increase the melting speed of the work). It comes with a clever little desk stand that clips onto the back end of the soldering cartridge installed, yet doesn't get in the way while the iron is in use.I store this little iron in a toothbrush travel tube after it's cooled. The little stand clip compresses and fits in the top end of the case, so nothing gets lost. This is a highly portable setup compared to the bulky desktop units...and it works just as well.It does use custom heat cartridges but they are of very high quality and enough tip shape types are available for any type of solder jobs I encounter (from point-to-point wired terminals to SMD-based PCB's).If I had a complaint, it would be that the relatively thick cables used on "wall wart" 60W-class notebook power supplies which power this iron are rather thick and stiff. This little iron is very trim and light. Having a stiff and bulky cable plugged into its rear coaxial power jack makes it a bit less easy to handle than would a thinner and more flexible power cord. The fix for this is to make an extension cord with a coaxial inline power jack on one end and a coaxial plug on the other. This TS100 has become my favorite soldering iron. I'll probably buy a second one to keep a different tip on (it's easy to change tips but it would be a lot faster to just be able to switch instantly between the two tip types I use the most).

Best portable solder
Perfect little solder with plenty of power to do any job. Make sure to do the very simple firmware upgrade and it'll add 50W to the max temp setting, auto screen orientation, customizable start screen and improved temperature boost. Comes with 2 tips, one a slight chisel tip and a thin tip for very small solder jobs. Needed to order some more tips just because I want more diversity but the 2 tips it comes with will do most jobs. My only complaint is the ergonomic of the handle can be tricky when doing electrical work. If the handle was comfortable I'd use this solder as my "all day" solder but I still use my Haako for at home. But just get an xt60 cable adapter and you can use this out in the field with a lipo battery. Comes with a nice carry case and removable stand also. TS100 solder is the best portable solder available and this version works great. Make sure to upgrade your firmware tho! (case doesn't come padded like mine, I added that and a sponge because I use this in the field alot!)

Cute little iron. Crappy included power supply.
I *really* like the iron. It's small, heats quickly, and has a fine tip. What I don't like is the included 20V power supply. Despite having a 3-prong plug, it bleeds 55V AC onto the ground side of the barrel jack going to the iron, with enough current you can feel it if you're holding a desoldering wick and pressing the iron into it.. Seems like a bad design, or a wiring fault. If you use the included supply, you MUST use the ground connector on the back of the iron.

It heats up extremely fast!
It will not work unless you program it. You have to set the parameters that are desired before it will function properly. It works very well!

TS101 perfect
This is a perfect all around electronics soldering iron. It also has easy replaceable tips and can go to 90 watts on direct DC power. It’s also portable and can run on battery packs or DC power stations. It can do it all!

small, powerful, fast heatup.
Works perfectly. The two tips provided really cover 99% of the work i will be doing. The iron heats up incredibly fast, the tips are so far not having any issues and appear of good quality. The internal accelerometer works correctly and puts the iron in auto-standby mode correctly. The USB connection works correctly, and allows for firmware updates & settings changes without issue.Starting to use it more than my Hakko... even though i purchased it to be a travel friendly iron....Just need a proper stand to use with it and it might free up some workbench space!Only downside i can only see is that it does get somewhat warm hold after prolonged use.... not hot, just warm..If you use it for hobby work, this should not be of any concern...

If you hate waiting for your clunky slow iron to heat up... you NEED (and WANT) this!
LOVE how fast it heats up. Love how light and small it is. Very easy to hold and use. I am putting away my 10/30W cheapo iron for good. I'm sure I'll later appreciate how it can use inexpensive replacement tips for TS100 models, or how I can buy a battery pack or use it with the USB-C cord... whatever. It's great as-is with the DC adapter. Buy it. Use it. Love it.
