It makes you want more of Paris and La Vie Parisienne
Just when I thought that my Paris obsession had reached its peak, here comes Ms. Belleville and her radiant collection of Parisian tales to heighten my fascination with the most dazzling city of all. Oh My God (yes, I know just like we do in America when we are in awe) what a fantastic and delightful reading. I enjoyed every scene because the book is scenic even when it does not have any images, every person in the book, the interaction between Ms. Belleville and her subjects (oui! I was rooting for Mr. CEO to be her happily ever after). Her prose is light and simple yet never simplistic.. it is full of history, literature, poetry, art, anecdotes and self-deprecation. Her Paris is unique and yet so relatable and that is her gift, making this beacon that Paris already is even more illuminating. She greatly succeeds in meshing together the writer, the woman, and the Parisienne to become utterly inspiring to those who are aspiring to what they are yet to achieve. Whether you have been to Paris once, a Pazillion times, are about to go for the first time or just wan to learn about Paris, Ms. Belleville’s narrative gives you a pair of new eyes to glimpse into Paris. Simply put, J’adore! and so will you!

Spend An Evening in Paris!!
If you love France as much as I do, you need to purchase Edith de Belleville’s book “Parisian Life…. Adventures in The City of Light”…! Having been lucky enough to be sent to Paris for work for 6 months in 1991, this book brings back so many memories of time we spent in various Bistros/Cafes each evening for dinner and on our weekend walks through Paris. It is an easy read with bits of humor, history and, stories of amazing authors who have lived and loved in Paris. I enjoyed reading it so much that Iactually re-read it again. So, pour yourself a glass of wine; settle down with a litle music in the backgroung; and, spend the evening wandering through The City of Lights!

A delightful glimpse into the life of a native parisienne.
If you are obsessed with everything Paris, comme moi, then this is a book to read! Edith de Belleville has written a book that manages to inform, entertain, and leave you wanting more. As she shares some of her experiences as a tour guide and French language teacher (who is also an attorney!), you get to know a woman who is eminently qualified to do what she does and yet always worried that she will somehow fall short. As far as I can see, she never does fall short, not as a tour guide, not as a language teacher, and not as a writer. Go along with Edith to the Ritz, the Louvre, the cafés of Paris, and, of course, the Seine. Listen into her conversations with the "CEO," and I'll guarantee you'll want to run right out and buy Habanita perfume by Molinard. And then, like me, you'll be waiting for Edith's next book.

This book is fascinating to read!
The very knowledgeable author, Edith de Belleville has a unique and charming way of explaining the history of some other Parisians, a few American expats, and herself. She does so by interweaving stories and places in a clear way that is easy to follow, what a good guide! Not only did I learn some new facts and names of some cafes to try, I felt like I had just read a letter from an insightful new French friend. Merci beaucoup to Edith de Belleville for writing this engaging and informative book!

You will love this book!
Follow the click-clack high heels of the intrepid Edith de Belleville as she navigates life, romance, and the ghosts of the past through the cobblestone streets of Paris. She is "a woman born, raised, educated, married (and divorced) in Paris" and she loves the history and culture of her city, but this book is not really a guidebook to The City of Light (though de Belleville is a licensed tour guide). It is a collection of her truly delightful adventures told with humor, imagination, and intellect. Je voudrais plus s'il vous plait!

Excellent Adventure in Paris
Every time I picked up this book to read another chapter or two, it was as though I jumped into the book and was sitting at a cafe in Paris, with Edith, dipping my madeline (which I have never wanted to do before) in a cup of tea, with wide eyes, wanting to hear more. I got lost in the conversation, mezmerized. I could not get enough. Edith's story draws you in. You feel like a fly on the wall sometimes, as she flirts with her CEO....all the way to the bridge over the Seine. You feel like her good friend, as she enlightens you with her knowledge, her life, the delicious and often trivial little known bits of the French people and those who regularly visited Paris, in history, served in a way only this clearly charming and chic contemporary French woman, with a subtle sense of humor, would present. Paris has always been my favorite city in the world. It holds a place in my heart like no other place, as though I lived a past lifetime there. After reading this book, I can't wait till I return. And when I stand on that magical bridge with the man I love, once again, I will think of Edith and her wealthy CEO.... and wonder. If you love the romance of Paris, the City of Light, you will love this book as much as I did.

Paris fun and insights with a smart Parisienne
Edith's de Belleville, a native Parisienne, attorney, licensed tour guide and insightful writer, shares her life in the City of Light with deep intelligence, humour, and understanding of her country's history, literature, culture and eternal allure. In her delightful voice, she weaves her insights into wonderful vignettes and interactions with locals and visitors, in settings from les Invalides to the Louvre, the Café de la Mairie to Pont Mirabeau, Place Vendôme to the American Library -- she takes no nonsense from anyone, knows her stuff from French history to poets to today's Paris trends, and simply 'tells a superb story' about her Paris adventures. As with her occasional webinars and other offerings, I value her observations and trust the information completely -- no hype or stereotype sugar-coating, but honest, informative and often amusing anecdotes that lead to deeper understanding of this precious city and its people. Look forward to more!

Belles histoires, remplies d'humour
J'ai beaucoup aimée la presentatioun du livre. Et la photo sur la couverture (qui pourrait être rigide), je la trouve très jolie, elle "parle" d'élégance.

Loved the oh so Parisian anecdotes!
Loved Edith's tales of life, love and and work amongst differing cultural norms in relationships set against the backdrop of her hometown, Paris. Her snippets really brought Paris to life for me and I felt that I had gained a bit of insight into Parisian women and life.

And what a Life!
For lovers of Paris and all things Parisian - I purchased the Kindle version of this book as I couldn’t wait. I haven’t been able to put it down!! I didn’t know what to expect - maybe something a little drier. It is a joy to read as Edith brings us into her heart to share her life and her abundance of knowledge as an accredited tour guide. I have reread the book as I found it so interesting and informative.
