The Book of Lost and Found

A complicated story. Not easy to keep up with the many characters and different eras.
An interesting story, but too many characters. I didn’t feel warm towards them, except maybe Tom a teeny bit. I thought he and Alice were very stupid with their unconvincing reasons for their love affair going nowhere. I found that most irritating. Also far too many changes of dates and years, made it hard to remember which era you were in. I ended up skipping quite a few pages. I wanted to finish it. It is just to long and I lost all interest in the characters. I am sure it would appeal to some readers, but it wasn’t for me. Also it has a very irrelevant cover. I have given it 3 stars just out of admiration for Lucy Foley that she managed to keep going with it.

Disapointed in this
I read The Hunting Party at Christmas and thought I'd track down some of her other books. This lost me after the first few chapters, and it gave the impression that it wasn't properly edited, so the story doesn't flow well. You don't feel for the narrator or get to know her, which is a pity!

Very pleased
Recently discovered this author and was pleased to find a reasonably priced book by her. It arrived promptly and I'm reading it at the moment.

I loved this novel
I loved this novel. I read a lot of this type of fiction (historical romance) and I would highly recommend it. It had all the elements of a perfect summer read. The descriptions of the locations used throughout the story are perfect and totally capture the era. I've already purchased Lucy's second novel and can't wait to start it.

Beautiful debut
A beautifully written debut novel that takes you from the glamour of the 1920's, to the seductive shores of Corsica to occupied Paris during the war. It paints a picture but also brings to life the feels and scents of each place, immersing you in time and place. Brilliant.
