Formed in Sheffield in 1977 The Human League are one of the most renowned English synth-pop bands. Initially an experimental electronic outfit, the group signed to Virgin Records in 1979 and attained widespread commercial success with their third album 'Dare' in 1981. The album contained four hit singles, including the UK/US number one hit 'Don't You Want Me'. Under Oakey's leadership, the Human League have evolved into a commercially successful New Pop band, with a line-up including female vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley. Since 1978, the Human League have released nine studio albums, two remix albums, one live album, six EPs, 30 singles and several compilation albums. They have had five albums and 15 Top 20 singles and had sold more than 20 million records worldwide by 2010. This set contains their albums from their time with Virgin Records and all records come in coloured vinyl (chosen by the band) and in tip on sleeves, all housed in a sturdy box with a poster. The band have just completed a sold-out UK tour playing 'Dare' in its entirety.

Essential release for us Leaguers!!!
Yes, it would have been nice to have had all of the Virgin releases included but this is concentrating on the League Mk 2. Beautifully presented, the coloured vinyl makes them look extra special. And what's more, Amazon had it at the lowest price!!!! Got this with birthday Amazon vouchers so i am really really pleased with this! League forever!!

Nicely presented.
This is a really nice box set, with the only slight disappointment being that Reproduction, Travelogue, and Love and Dancing weren't included. Plus there's no booklet which is always a bit disappointing. The vinyl pressings are excellent, nice and quiet for coloured vinyl.Picture inner sleeves are replicated where appropriate, just a shame polylined inner couldn't be provided for those, whereas albums that were issued with plain inner sleeves do have polylined inners. The outer box is good and sturdy, and pleased to say it was shipped in a sealed box from the manufacturers, and then an outer packing box to ensure there was no damage in transit.Get it whilst it's around.

A must for any League fan
Although the title may be slightly misleading as it doesn’t include all the albums the band released on virgin if however focuses on the Hit years after the split. Each sleeve has been faithfully reproduced to a high standard and vinyl pressed in coloured vinyl to match each release. All housed in a sturdy slipcase.Definitely a must for any league collector or anyone only familiar with Dare and wanting to explore a little further.

A Proud Peacock and Four Turkeys
The two stars are for 'Dare' a magnificent landmark in pop which found the sweet spot between popular appeal and critical acclaim thanks to Martin Rushent's sublime production and some great songs. This is the proud peacock. The other four albums including the derivative of Dare represent a rapid decline into forgettable dross, apart from a few decent singles ( 'Mirror Man,' 'The Lebanon etc.) No amount of coloured vinyl can disguise that.Virgin would have done better to release Dare with 'Reproduction' and 'Travelogue' its creative, catchy, and rather groundbreaking predecessors. But that was another band, half of which went to form Heaven 17 who befel a very similar career trajectory to Phil Oakley and Adrian Wright's Human League mark 2, the latter choosing to keep the name but add two female singers, Susan Sulley and Joanne Catheral (spotted while dancing and lighting up the 'Crazy Daisy' disco in Sheffield). The rest is history. But not a fairy-tale one in my book. Why pay out over £100? You can get them all for two quid each in many a car boot sale. Only Dare is worth it.P. S If you are reading this Bob Last I hope you are happy now.

NOT a box set of the Virgin Years
This should be REPRODUCTION, TRAVELOGUE, THE DIGNITY OF LABOUR EP, DARE, LOVE & DANCING, FASCINATION and at-a-stretch….: HYSTERIA… Then stop please. The Human League ended here anyway. Very disappointing Virgin. Why are you so reticent to join the fan base by respecting the pre DARE material? And why miss out the most important remix album ever made (Love & Dancing)? I should imagine the band themselves, not forgetting the original band, must be just as disappointed by this blunderful release…. This is so disappointing that only a significant reduction in price, could tempt me.
