Osprey: The Glorious Pursuit of Unbridled Determination Hardcover – November 12, 2021

I have seen much of the author's work online on YouTube, so I was expecting quality work with this book by Mark Smith. I must say that I was still really impressed with the photography and content of this coffee-table book. As a lifetime lover of ospreys and the many other birds on the east coast of Florida, I must say that Mark has truly captured the essence of these amazing birds which have thankfully bounced back from near-decimation due to the tragic effects of DDT pesticides on their reproductive success rates in the 60s and 70s. The majestic birds have been thriving along the Indian River Lagoon and surrounding waters since that poison was outlawed and they were given a chance to overcome the detrimental effects to their eggshells and habitat. Mark has created a treasure that anyone who appreciates God's creation can love and share with their children and grandchildren. Thanks, Mark, for a most impressive and collectible insight into our fragile ecosystem and a vital piece of our natural history.

I love ospreys. Mark Smith posts amazing videos of Osprey on YouTube and stunning photos on Twitter. The book has unbelievable shots of osprey in action, fishing and flying off with their catch. If you love wildlife photography, you will love this book.

Awesome photos was only a part of this book. The stories are detailed and entertaining. If you are even remotely curious about the Ospreys, this is the book for you! Highly recommend this book and once you have read it it looks fantastic on your coffee table!

This is an excellent coffee table book. The photography is stellar and the overall production is excellent. The photos of the aerial battles with pelicans is especially captivating. It's a worthy addition to any library.

As an artist, passionate about Ospreys, I acquired the best book by the best photographic artist in one of the best parts of the world for our precious subject ! A BRILLIANT book - lovely tender and amusing writing and such an array of the most beautiful rare photographs. Up close, one can almost feel the Osprey's breath!Thank you Mark Smith for an exquisite book. I gave it to myself for my birthday last week. What a joy!

Really liked the whole presentation of this book. Mark writes like he talks in his videos. His descriptions/stories that go with each photo is brilliant. I enjoyed this book so much. The Osprey (in my view) is an underestimated Raptor. It displays majestic power in their wings when lifting their catch from the oceans/estuaries, at times being dragged back under the water by the size of the fish. A majestic bird that is so brilliantly described in this book.

This book presents the osprey with stunning images and complimented with exciting storyline that makes a strong emotional engagement with the reader. Photos of the osprey are of the highest quality in themselves and the book was produced in high quality finish thus making it a valuable collection to my library.

Mark Smith has one of the best wildlife photography channels on YouTube, with gorgeous shots and video footage - very often of the ospreys near his Florida home. Those and his clear and information packed guides to Sony cameras are superb resources. Now his talents are turned to creating a stunning book of his photographs combined with his story telling talent. Beautifully printed this book is a real treat for wildlife lovers, and for those who ‘know’ Mark through his YouTube postings. Having those shots in the glorious detail of this book is awesome.

Love the narrative in the book of Mark's experiences when out photographing the Osprey. Photos are excellent. Love the book.
