Garmin TacX Neo 2t
This is the smoothest, quietest (except on cobble and wood planks), smart trainer I’ve had the fortune to ride. Everything about it screams quality, I had a Cyclops Hammer which finally coughed up it guts after 8 years of use, roughly half of each year as the PNW is wet from Oct-July 4th (race season Mar-Dec when you include all race disciplines, road, XC, TT, cyclocross) but clear days I went outdoors, this kept me in racing fitness. I can only hope the Garmin TacX Neo 2t shines like it has so far.

Tactile, haptic riding!
Unlike most trainers, the Tacx simulates cobbles, wood slats and other road vibrations which is more realistic and challenging! Unit is very sturdy and Bluetooth connectivity to ride with Zwift, Strava and other workout apps. A great trainer!

Not a game changer
I slapped this under my Neo and immediately saw a 100W bump in my FTP :) Pro tour here I come.OK back to reality. What this allows is some slight (2-3 cm) movement fore-aft during harder efforts. It's most noticeable during standing efforts. Combined with the Neo's slight lateral slack, the bike does feel more 'live' under you... again especially when standing. On long endurance or recovery level seated efforts the motion is minimal. Noticeable, but minimal. There seems to be an internal spring or elastomer so the resistance to fore-aft movement increases with distance. It's hard to hit the limit of travel. The included front wheel riser is higher to accommodate the height added by the motion plates but more importantly the groove for the front wheel is flat. This allows the front wheel to move fore-aft. If you put it in a standard riser (Tacx, Saris multi-position hexagonal one) which has an groove shaped like an arc fore-aft, the bike will move very little. In a way, this is great if you have multiple users, some who prefer not to have the motion. No need to remove the motion plates, just swap in a different front wheel riser.Installation takes 2 minutes and that includes opening the box.I can't rate this 5 stars because of the cost. I get that it's a one-off item, specifically engineered for one of (if not THE) most expensive smart trainers out there. So you're not just paying for the $10 worth of materials. Having said that, the price seems to be about 2X what something like this "should" cost.

Fantastic, what a difference!
They are pricey, but then again so is the Neo 2T. Gramin nailed it with these motion plates. They are dead easy to install, takes less than 5 minutes, no tools. I was a bit skeptical but I have to say that the fore/aft range of motion combined with the side to side flex that the Neo 2T already has really makes for a very “almost like riding outside” feel. Instead of the bike feeling “dead” riding on the trainer it feels light and “alive” like a good road bike does on the road. I’m a fairly big guy at 6’2”, 200# and long rides on the trainer are more “wearing”, I’ve always felt like an hour on the trainer was more like 2 hours on the road, there are a variety of reasons for that but I think the lack of bike motion is part of that. I’ve only done a few rides since installing these plates but I have to say I feel less fatigued after a ride, at the same average power, with the plates. The other thing you will notice is they will highlight issues with your pedal stroke very quickly, these will force you to smooth out your power delivery, more like riding on rollers in that way, which is a good thing. So expensive yeah, but if you train hard indoors and want a good set up I can’t recommend the TACX Neo 2T, the NEO motion plates, and the Wahoo Kickr Headwind Bluetooth Fan highly enough. Really good “pain cave” setup.

Excellent Upgrade to Tacx
These plates truly add another dimension to your indoor training and allow for a more real and comfortable indoor ride. I train for long distance triathlon and cycling events and routinely put in 2,3,4,5 and even 6 hour rides indoors due to weather. These motion plates have made a huge difference in my indoor training sessions.
