Philosophy Gym Olympic Barbell - Weightlifting & Powerlifting 2" Bar

Quality is on par with my Vulcan curl bar that cost more than this barbell. Shipping was far faster than implied from Amazon ( from Georgia to Kansas ) bar is lovely. I am edging toward 50 and live in an apartment. Bar is perfect for maintenance level lifts and deadlifts. It literally fills my need in every way.Knurling is spot on. Every thing I needed is met by this bar. I won’t be dropping it. It is literally perfect for my needs and I couldn’t be happier.

Barbell arrived early and in great shape. Even FedEx couldn't destroy the cardboard tube it was shipped in. The 72" barbell has the same distance between sleeves as my full size power bar. Fits my rack perfectly. Sleeves spin freely and will hold 5 iron plates with spring clamps. I benched 3 plates for test and works great. The diameter of bar is closer to 29mm and knurling is perfect for my taste. Since purchasing another motorcycle I have less gym space and this bar was perfect for my situation at less than half the price of rogues shorty bar.

Bar was delivered in perfect new condition and arrived early. No scratches, no rust, sleeves spin easily and smoothly. Weighs slightly over 33 lbs. There is a 52 inch 28 mm inner bar so the bar fit on my Titan T3 power rack easily with three inches of play to each side.The sleeves are 9 inches with bevel or 8 and 3/4 inches usable length. If your barbell clamps are the typical plastic 2” wide type you have 6 and 3/4 inches for plates. I bought an aluminum clamp that is 1.5 inches wide to allow extra space for bumper plates.I won’t ever lift near the 700 to 800 lb capacity of this bar, but did lift 300 as a quick test. The bar had no issues. If you use tall thin 45 lb iron plates, the most that will fit this bar is 5 plates per side. That works out to practical max weight of 483 lbs (450 plates and 33lb barI lift in my home garage so this six foot bar is much more practical than my previous 7 ft. bar to move about. Further the 52 inch span allows me to rack this bar for easy plate changes unlike my 5 ft bar.This Philosophy bar is a great, more convenient addition for my garage gym.

Total length is 72 inches or 6 feet, sleeve length is 9 inches, bar length between sleeves is 52 inches, bar thickness is around 27 mm, the total weight of the bar is 32.1 pounds (not 33 lbs.).The barbell looks well made, have not tried it yet. The packaging needs improvement. The packaging carboard tube is strong, but both ends of the tube were open, and the barbell was slightly damaged on both ends due to that. The barbell comes inside the carboard tube covered in a plastic bag, with one end of the bag open. The knurling of the barbell is passive, not grippy at all, but will do its job. The finish of the barbell looks nice; however, I don't know how long it will last. Protect the section of the bar that will contact the J-hooks with black electric tape (the same color as the bar) wrapped around the bar, to protect the finish paint/coat. The sleeves are of a metallic silver color, so the bar itself is black and the sleeves are metallic silver color. The sleeves spin freely and have no noticeable play side to side. In conclusion, the barbell seems at first impression, to be of very good quality (time will tell), the only problem was with the packaging, which allowed the ends of the bar to get slightly damaged during transportation. Lastly, the shipping was fast, under 3 business days to deliver via FedEx.

True to size, my squat rack has 46in space between so this bar fits it well with 52in space in between collars. This is the best thing I can find with good enough weight limit, that is 6ft long. Only has 9in sleeves for the plates but it good enough for what I need and the space I have.

The bar is great, quality feel and perfect fit. The length is great if your space is cramped but you still want it to fit a standard squat rack
