Is it worth it? Sewing Edition
The book does a remarkable job of connecting all aspects of the fashion industry that one would not think about. For instance the environmental impact it has, the negligence of workers rights both models, garment workers,up and coming designers, the supporting of the class system, and the harm to women's self-esteem by the images and narratives that the fashion industry create. The author touching on the models was something that I really liked, I have thought about haute couture and fast fashion and always associated the industry with places like rana plaza, it did not occur to me that the models and people who work in the industry have it rough as well. The book really interconnects multiple facets that are damaged by the fashion industry in a digestible manner.I think the author presented a strong argument about why ethical fashion has its limitations and what needs to be done to bring about true change. Is this book worth it? Yes, This book is very eye opening and well rounded.

A must-read
"The notion that supporting a multinational corporation by buying its products will help solve poverty and reduce inequality is an extremely clever pretence that fundamentally alters the perception of corporations and lets them appear interactive, inclusive and charitable. It is fundamentally contradictory. Poverty is the result of an exploitative system of global capitalism, of which multinational corporations are key exponents and beneficiaries. What is actually occurring with charity commerce is the maximisation of corporate profits through the exploitative marketing of human misery." This is a very important book. It must be read by all. We simply cannot go on with business as usual. Too much is at stake.

This is an excellent book and much needed critique of the fashion industry ...
This is an excellent book and much needed critique of the fashion industry and capitalism. It should be a best-seller and required reading at schools, but of course people don't want to hear the truth. Consumerism is King.

A must read
This books puts things into perspective and allows those who don't have an in depth knowledge of chemicals, environmental waste, etc. to understand what's impacting us globally. It's a book I will continue to suggest to friends.
