very good read
Could not put down. This is the first book in a long time that I could not put down. Any down time I had I wanted to know what happened next. Because of this book I realiazed that I like this genre of storytelling. Anyone who gets this will not be disappointed.

Loved it
I'm not an avid reader what so ever. I haven't genuinely read a book out of pure entertainment since my middle school days. But after seeing the movie that was adapted from this light novel, I had to check it out. I got to say this is genuinely extremely enjoyable and might be my gateway into reading more for fun. The mannerisms of the characters and the way they speak feel so real and natural compared to a lot of other books I've seen before and the concept of the Urashima Tunnel is a cool and unique spin. Definitely give this a read whenever you get the chance. 10/10 would recommend.

Not perfect, but a solid read if you have the time / interest
Although the book's premise is quite simplistic and its narrative will inevitably bring up comparisons to other stories like Your Name, there’s something engaging about the entire work. With playful dialogue and keen narration in both high school shenanigans and existential thought, this book is a solid read for anyone who likes an intimate story set in a contemporary reality with a science-fiction twist—even if its ending may falter in its focus. The first thing that surprised me about this book was how much reality seeps into the experience; although the Urashima Tunnel is a great hook, I found myself genuinely enjoying how grounded the narrative was to our own world. It’s almost to a point where I thought the latter half’s focus on the science-fiction aspects intruded on the characters and developments that were being made.Besides this, I have a few nitpicks here and there:- I thought the book dedicated a bit too much time on a certain side character- Anzu’s characterization and personality is all over the place, even though she’s my favorite character- Dialogue can feel a bit preachy, though that’s mostly because the book isn't afraid to delve deep into the psychology and tensions of its charactersAll in all, The Tunnel to Summer is not necessarily a monumental or essential read, but I think there’s something worth experiencing here—after all, I couldn’t get myself to put down the book and finished it in a single day, without realizing how much time passed. This book is an amazing start for Mei Hachimoku (as this is her first novel!) and I’m excited to read her other works soon.

A fantastic light novel with some twists!
First of all, this book brought me out of a years-long reading slump. Any book that can do that is amazing. This was a fantastic story from beginning to end, with the first few chapters taking the time to build up the fascinating characters and setting and the remainder a delightful roller coaster of emotions that’s hard to put down once its got you hooked. I breezed through the latter half of the book because it was just that good. If you’re looking for a new light novel to pick up that will hit you where it hurts while still managing to make you laugh here and there, I highly recommend you give this one a read. You won’t regret it!

I can't believe Kindle never recommended this amazing story to me before, I just happened upon it at the book store located next to my work place. I had a few minutes so I checked out the light novel section and immediately my eyes focused in on the beautiful artwork on the cover so I picked it up and read the back. I didn't have time to buy it that second without being late to clock in at my job so I put it back. For some reason I couldn't stop thinking about how interesting the book was the whole time I was working so halfway through my shift I decided to take a break and quickly ran next door to buy this book. Once I got home and read it I was drawn in and could not stop reading, after finishing this book it was the first time I've ever truly felt like I had just read a masterpiece. The most unbelievable thing is that in the afterword the author states that this is his first novel. I have already pre-ordered Mei Hachimoku's second book because something tells me it's going to be worth the wait.
