Great book
Good for anyone to read regardless of your belief system if you are at a point where you are ready to see your life and what’s around you in a new and better way.

This book is for those who are totally fed up with pain and suffering
I'm not talking about the usual ups and downs that everyone goes through. If you're life is good for the most part, check out an Anthony Robbins book or something. Now, if your pain and suffering is to the extent that you feel life is dark, murky, pointless... then that energy will be the fuel/drive to find a way out. I assure you that this book is the answer to your pain and suffering. In a nutshell, here's the bizarre answer: get in touch with your True Self. You're identified 100% with the false in you and that is the root of your pain and suffering. Yes, it does sound bizarre. And you'll probably resist this because you know no other way but your world of pain and suffering. I've been there, I know. I guarantee you with all my heart that there truly is a way out. Seeing the false as false and thus getting in touch with what's True is the ONLY answer. Anything else you do is mere candy-coating.I immersed myself in Tolle's resources, Adyashanti, Byron Katie, Anthony DeMello, and Gangaji. Now, Vernon also points in the same direction as the these people. But Vernon's style is fierce whereas the other people's style is gentle. And by the way... I love Anthony De Mello, but it turns out that A LOT of the stories/metaphors and what he had to say in general were from Vernon Howard's resources, including this book.As I read Mystic Path, it totally struck a chord with me like no other. It's an amazing book that's fresh and brand new despite being written in the 60's. In fact, I was blown away chapter after chapter at this man's style. He knows what he's talking about.

good book, interesting ideas
I read this book many years ago. I couldn't find my old copy so I bought another one just to see if I still found the thoughts in the book appealing.

Wonderful book and author
If you really want to grow Spiritually....this book is a great road map.Vernon Howard was one of the best authors in this genre I have ever read...I only wish I had the wisdom to see how important this stuff is when I was in my 20's. The Kingdom of Heaven is indeed in us...but we have to want it with all of our hearts...then it rewards that desire with insights that lead you to peace.Think about it. The Voice of Truth, God, whatever you want to call it....is always there...but it is usually overshadowed by our ego, which is loud and stupid...the cause of all our problems and distress. But it knows us so well....and as the Course In Miracles states:"Your ego is totally insane....it doesn't want you to know Who takes every step with you. For it knows that if you knew that God is always with you, you would throw ego away...so it keeps you in a low level of anxiety to control you"So true. I know...have lived it. God is Love. So very powerful, He can afford to be gentle....has no need to scream at you. It is an inevitable fact that you will one day realize He is closer to you than your breath...so He can stand back and watch with sympathetic amusement as you struggle with all your "knowings"....lol!!!If you get this book...you will be hooked on Vernon Howard....a breath of fresh air.

Time well Spent
I spent a good part of my life trying to figure myself out only to discover the person I was trying to understand was not me at all, and the answer was not in my thought life. Self-sabotaging ways can never be understood at the level of thought because that is where they originate. The wisdom I was seeking was beyond thought.Through Vernon Howard's books I've discovered I can be aware of what I'm thinking. Watching my thoughts as a nonjudgmental observer, my intuitive self came into focus. The intuitive self is free of conditioning and self-harming ways.In the Christian tradition, it is walking in the spirit. This is a lifelong journey. You will always be on your way and never arrive.I highly recommended this book if this is what you're after.

Before there was “The Book of Not Knowing”, there was this book.
The info contained here is similar to The Book of Not Knowing.Where Howard differs from Ralston is that Ralston is, arguably, a philosophical Materialist; whereas Howard doesn’t criticize or talk down about faith. Both books are great though. They could compliment one another.

Everyone should read
I was at my OLD, small local library and came across this book. It has changed my life IMMENSELY. So I bought 3 copies from Amazon, one for me to keep and two to share with friends. I was raised Christian, but I am not religious- more spiritual. While the title seems a little out there, as soon as you start reading it, you get drawn in by the easy to read, common sense language. It is mildly New Age, but not something that Christians would run from. I believe in my abilities to take in what's useful and ignore the things that might not agree with my beliefs. But what I did realize while reading this book is just how closed minded we are taught to be in the church, and how much better off we would be if we would give things a chance. After reading this book, I am a much happier person, and MUCH less stressed. At first it was a conscious effort, and then it just came naturally. The book is NOT about religion, but about how our minds hold everything we need in order to live a happy, content life. And it is achievable for EVERYONE. It makes so much sense...

Fantastic eye opener to the human mind condition!
The author of the book has clear insight into the human mind and how people are dominated by their thoughts and dont even realise it. He talks about how people create their own misery by following their confused mind. He offers a beautiful way out of this by helping the reader become aware of his/her true self, not the conditioned self. Fantastic read a must for anyone on the journey of self discovery. This book is the most honest and straight to the point read. You wont be disappointed with your purchase at all. Another person made a review and said all the book says is "follow the mystic path". Well that reader clearly was not reading this book with open eyes and missed massive amounts of insight. 5 out of 5!

Better Understanding
I only wish I had come across this book years ago. I have studied spiritual truths for many years but have not managed to break free from self created suffering. This book is the most practical one I have come across to help me to understand and correct the obstacles that have stood in my way and enable me to 'let go' I read it a month ago and already I am feeling a lot better.I am confident that if I continue to practice the simple method that V.H. suggests one day I will be completely free of the things which have held me back for so many years.
