California means earthquake country, so hanging pictures requires more care. These do the trick so well and at a very reasonable expense. Easy to install with a nail or screw, depending on the weight of the item being hung. You might want help hanging and removing an item as you have to navigate the hangar wire into the channel in the block. Once hung, it takes a bit to remove the item - you need to support the weight of the object while moving through the block's maze-like channel. Not too tough after doing it once or twice, but this clearly indicates how difficult it would be for the hangar wire to escape the block on its own. All my best pieces get this treatment!

I've had pictures fall off the wall during an earthquake. But now all my pictures are hung using these. The notch stops pictures from flopping off the wall. Great idea.

I live in an earthquake zone. These hangers are great for my mirrors and heavier pictures. I need some help getting the wire on the back of the picture I got he hanger if the picture being hung is large. I use two hangers and make sure they are fully lined up for larger, heavier pictures. Safely for hanging pictures that might be jarred by doors opening and closing or other shaking, as well.

I also have a toddler in the house so its not really a matter of IF a picture or painting will be knocked around (and potentially fall)... its more of a matter of WHEN it will happen. These nifty picture hooks are well worth every dime for the peace of mind they offer. There are 4 hangers per package with two mounting options included. Medium size nail for smaller picture frames/ paintings and a larger screw/bolt for heavier items. For small frames you only need one hanger and a nail into dry wall. There is a "catch" for the wire hook to keep your frames from falling in case they are jostled. I doubled up for medium sized frames. For really large or heavier frames the bolts/screws into a wall stud is the most secure option. The directions are pretty strait forward and installation is simple. If you plan to mount to a wall stud you will need a stud finder and small drill. These hangers do require a wire on the back of any frame so you definitely want to make sure the wire is secure before hanging a frame!Pros: Easy to install, Secure, Well made (plastic).Cons: None really. The hangers are made of plastic but its pretty thick.If you're planning to swing from your picture frames like Tarzan than these probably are not for you. For regular human beings these are a great option to secure your paintings and picture frames!

I have a chalkboard above my son’s changing table. As he grew up he began playing with it. I bought these To secure the chalkboard and make sure he can’t knock it down on himself. Worked great! (I also screwed the bottom to the wall so he can’t make it crooked)
