Perfect for relearning the pedals!
I played the organ 20 plus years ago and stopped when life had other plans for me. Last year, I was able to start playing again but had difficulty in re-learning the pedals. Many times I would hit the wrong pedal. I have had this book about two weeks now and find that my pedal playing has significantly improved in that short period of time. There are tons of exercises. After practicing the first few pages of exercises my feet are beginning to naturally find the correct pedal.

tons of exercises for learning the pipe organ pedalboard
There are a lot of exercises here, far more than are really necessary, and I am not thrilled with the organization of them. I would not recommend trying to perfect each exercise before moving on to the next, or it will take you forever to gain an overall picture of what playing pedalboard entails. I've decided to just read through them, doing everything carefully and getting it right just once before moving on. It's interesting to see what kinds of technical passages you're expected to play with your feet. The book appears to be for pianists who want to learn the organ pedalboard, because there is no instruction for beginners who do not yet read music. There are brief explanations about how to use your feet, so that if you do not have a teacher, you can pretty much teach yourself. Watching organists on YouTube is also great for self-instruction.

Huge Learning Curve
Gleason's organ manual has pedal exercises that are incremental. They start in the middle of the pedalboard and work out from there once the player is comfortable. This pedal book throws you into the deep end. I can see it working if you are the sort practicing many hours a day. But for those of us with one hour a day, I'd recommended finding a used copy of Gleason or using the free pdf in his own handwriting that is available on the internet.

It is a perfect guide for someone like me who is relearning pedals
The book is masterfully simple. I wanted a series of studies to give me basic information, although I have studied the organ before. It was the series of technical studies with simple explanations to understand their purposes with brief helps in playing them. It is a perfect guide for someone like me who is relearning pedals, or for the organ beginner, which is what I REALLY am, with no experience other than piano or similar instruments.

A must have for those who are starting to learn organ. The pedalling exercises are really good. Starting from the most easiest to most complex exercise. Highly recommended. Im happy with this purchase.

Well organizd and clear method
This method book has excellent organization and presents concepts with clarity and conciseeffective explanations. The progression from beginning exercises to the more challengingmaterial is laid out in a practical direct manner. It is certainly one of the better methods I havecome across. It immediately begins to present ideas of foot movement patterns useful in all levels of classical organ music.

Good Tutorial
This is a good book for someone needing to develop a sound pedal technique. I have been using it regularly and find I can now play without the need to look down and can confidently manage the basics of pedalling like 'toe and heel' legato passages and range skips. The book covers everything from the basics up to playing 3 and 4 part chords on the pedals.

A well-written and well-structured book which works through simple exercises ...
A well-written and well-structured book which works through simple exercises to much more demanding pieces. You would need to apply the exercises to 'real' pieces to get the full benefit of the material and take each stage slowly and thoroughly before rushing onwards.
