Makes an easy
This adaptor allowed me to install a standard power supply in a Dell MT-7090 so that I could install a powered video card. Worked like a charm.

You may need this
Gonna build a "Budget Gaming Box" from an older Dell station? You're gonna need one of these. The old work stations, while great machines for the most part, are very bare bone. You're going to be replacing the old 290 Watt power supply with a nice 500 or bigger, to run that new GPU. When you do, you'll find the MB has a 8 pin power socket, your new power supply will have a 24 pin cable... You're going to need this. And it works.I just did all the above, (Cad not Games) and it all just went together.

Could be cheaper for what it is, but it does the job well!
The media could not be loaded. Â I have now purchased 2 of these and they've both worked fine for my use case: taking a couple of old Dell office computers, pulling out the motherboard/cpu/ram, and throwing that in a gaming PC case with a nice GPU and PSU. Dell office computers use a proprietary 8 pin motherboard power input instead of the usual 24 pin, but with this adapter you can easily connect your motherboard to your upgraded power supply for your power hungry graphics card. I haven't had any issues, and no, my PCs have not caught on fire. :)

Works great on my Dell 3020 MT
Built up an emulation gaming machine with an old Dell Optiplex 3020 MT. The system came stock with a 290W power supply which isn't enough to power a decent gaming card. Purchased this converter cable and installed a 500W after market power supply and now I can connect 6 and 8 pin after market video cards. Installed a Radeon 5600XT rated at 150W with no issues. Sure beats the integrated CPU graphics.
