Your Moms a Serial Killer
I first watched this movie while on a "vacation" to Colorado where my boyfriend's sister was getting married. The marriage didn't last, but this movie holds up great! John Waters at his finest, even without the great Divine.

Worth it for the Conversation, but do stay for the rest
I hesitated to pick p the Blu Ray for a while because it only had one new feature I hadn't seen before - it wasn't like it was a Criterion release. However, the feature in question, which was a conversation between John Waters, Kathleen Turner and Mink Stole is well worth the price. Including tax, $19.11 isn't a lot of money for a Blu-Ray and it is packed with features and featurettes. Most of them, which include interviews with Waters, Ricki Lake, Patricia Hearst, Sam Waterston, Turner and Stole, were from a previous DVD release which I still have. The picture and the sound are much clearer, and somehow watching a Blu-Ray sort of makes me more aware of other images in each scene. I paid more attention to the surroundings than I had before. I had thought of putting on the old DVD and wonder if the same things would be in the frame, but talked myself out of it "They're not putting in new edits or reshooting scenes from 25 years ago, stupid, they've always been there".I gave it 5 stars, of course. I've always thought of it as a 4-star film anyway, but this conversation feature was not only informative and interesting, but it was also very nice and touching. Waters' and Stole's friendship goes back nearly 55 years and it was very sweet watching them reminisce. Kathleen Turner was very witty and seemed like one of the Dreamland gang, not at all as a big star. In fact, Turner relates a story of Michael Douglas being nervous about her doing this film because they were yet to film the sequel to Romancing the Stone. "You're not...you're not doing this one, are you..." "Uh, well, yeah, I am". It's a perfect feature which could only have been made better if Patricia Hearst had also joined in, even though she was only on screen for 15 minutes tops - hmmm.....makes me think of Warhol....I like that.Years ago, I'd resisted the fact that bigger names were appearing in his films because I thought that would rob it of its purity and independent innocence. No such thing. Sure a movie might have a "big star" in it, but there are still hassles not unlike ones which greeted John, Divine, Mink, David, Bonnie, etc., as far back as Multiple Maniacs. Tab Hunter was the big name in "Polyester", yet the neighbors still hated the film crew and actors when they filmed in the middle of a suburban Baltimore block and made way too much noise.

Great High Definition picture and Sound!
I remember first being skeptical about buying this classic on Blu-Ray because it's old. Let me tell you...it's fantastic! The movie has unbelievable High Definition that you can clearly see as soon as the main menu pops up with a few of the scenes playing. This is a great collection to any one who enjoys comedy!

Isn’t This 4215 Pussy Way?
Kathleen Turner and Mink Stole calling one another the most profane names onscreen. This is one of my favorite of Waters’ latter films. After this they slowly started to decline...his last film “A Dirty a Shame” I hope, will not be his final film. This one, is a classic. Kathleen chews up the scenery!

Yes.
The DVD worked correctly. This movie is a hidden treasure and I wish more people knew about it. If you like mean girls, jawbreaker, Wild Things, Kathleen Turner, The Devil wears Prada style movies you’ll be happy to own this. A very Tim-Burtony John Waters directs a delicious and whimsically cynical masterpiece.

Subtitles & aspect ratio
Great film. UK R2 2003 Pathe release (EAN 5060002830345) is let down by the 1.33:1 full screen pan & scan & no subtitles. If you have an unlocked multiregional DVD player that is capable of playing USA region 1 DVDs (that WILL NOT play on ordinary UK R2 DVDs) then buy the 2008 USA Universal region 1 Collector's Edition release (UPC 025195027489). It comes with English SDH, French & Spanish subtitles & an anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen presentation.

I've loved this movie since I first saw it when I ...
I've loved this movie since I first saw it when I was just 10 years old and it has been one of my all time favourites ever since! I had previously owned the out-of-print DVD which when lent out to a friend was NEVER returned. So when I saw the opportunity to upgrade I jumped at the chance to get this Blu-ray!The film itself is perfect, I've seen it hundreds of times and it's as good as I remembered BUT it appears Universal have just used the same film print used for the DVD and just up scaled the image as for Blu-ray - the quality isn't where it should be. The image is noisy, full of dust and grain and hasn't been remastered since the DVD was released. There are no special features available, not even a trailer which is puzzling as the US edition has a commentary track & a trailer at the very least. This version is about as good as I think we're gonna get for this cult classic which is disappointing but i'll love it all the same

Sadly , no EXTRAS
AMAZING MOVIE!! AMAZING PICTURE (i know some reviewers disagree here but i was genuinely impressed taking into consideration the age of this film.HOWEVER, what is NOT amazing, is that there NO EXTRAS WHATSOEVER!!!This was a real disappointment because I assumed it included the audio commentary done by John Waters and Kathleen Turner, which features on the collector's edition DVD of this film... sad, sad, sad!

Classic Black Comedy
Love this film and had not seen in in years so was thrilled when I found it online. Bought it on blu-ray and, after seeing what other reviewers had written about the transfer quality, I wasn't expecting it to be great. To be fair the picture quality is not that bad, most definitely watchable. We have to keep in mind that these films were not made to high definition quality that we are used to now.The film is brilliant though, one to watch if you like humour with a darker edge.

Breakfast Serial
A real piece of cheesecake - Hollywood at its absolute best.Hilarious from start to finish and one of those films which should be watched whenever you need some mindless escapism. Very gory and bloody, and fully deserving of its 18 rating, it nonetheless delivers a brilliant lesson on the morals of small-town life (not just in the US)...but that's not really why you should watch it.I don't think there is much to moan about really, it's not a screen great but then, sometimes you just need a good old-fashioned romp to relax and unwind.A true story though?! It's too neat (particularly in the ending) and doesn't need "justifying" in this way.
