🍃🍃🍃 Quartz crystals are silicon dioxide, one of earth's most abundant minerals and have piezoelectric properties- they develop an electric potential upon the application of mechanical stress or pressure. Quartz crystals are commonly used as Crystal Oscillators, an electronic oscillator circuit that uses the mechanical resonance of a vibrating crystal of piezoelectric material to create an electrical signal with a precise frequency.
