Those Phoners are a tad out-of-date but creepy as heck
This was an enjoyable film overall, though I felt it needed another 20 minutes to build on story and in particular the motivations of the "phoners" (Mild spoilers ahead) It is not a happy popcorn flick, though - if you're expecting that sort of thing. Several creepy scenes and overall yes - as another reviewer lamented - there is a sort of message within. It's clear if you've read the book that Stephen King is from that old school that does not enjoy a life dominated by inane mobile phone conversations. That said, I can see already where the idea behind this techno-thriller is already stale (the book is a bit old, as is the "cell phone" idea) - mainly in that I think more people text now than actually TALK (and listen) on their smartphones. With audio a key component of the story, it would have been nice if they had left the smartphone texters alone or had some other way to get them...

Had low expectations from the other reviews
Started out terrible, beginning seemed more like a fan - made YouTube video than a film starting John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson! The first 20 minutes or so of the movie seemed rushed, and didn't feel like all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed.I absolutely loved the book, and really wanted to like the movie, so I tried to get over the spotty start and settle in for the rest of the movie, which actually did improve as it went along. It is disappointing that it never really reached the realism and character development of even an average "Walking Dead" episode, but the story line does have good points, a few jump scares, and even some moments of good acting. But overall it felt like the purse strings were too tight to get all the scenes right, some feeling rushed to the point of being funny when they weren't supposed to be.If you read the (awesome!) book, wait until it's in the barging bin at Walmart.I gave it a Neutral 3 stars, since the other reviews kept my expectations low,and because there was some creativity thrown in at the end to change it up from the book.I'm glad I watched it,but this story really did deserve better treatment.

A customer at my job recommended this movie
My customer was behind three people who were so involved with their cell phones they couldn't even communicate with me and tied up the whole checkout line. I ordered it as soon as I got home and enjoy it a lot.

NOT a zombie film
arrived early in excellent condition. when I read the novel I thought it would be a great film, too bad it took so long. Zombies have taken over and the story is dated. I don't remember the original ending, but this one is a real lulu!
