Thraxas has beer with his enemies…
…one of them anyway. The best fantasy series of the 21st century. As long as you don’t insist on high fantasy.Great stuff.

More Thraxas Adventures Please!
A really good and enjoyable read. I have read the whole series so far and I can't wait for the next book (soon I hope). Thank you Mr Scott. Thraxas is definitely number one chariot in books.

Worth the wait?
It is not quite as good as the previous eleven books But! With such a high standard to keep up to not quite as good is still outstanding!

He's back!
I do enjoy the style of this series with its self-deprecating humour but while the author has clearly used a spellchecker he has not used a proofreader. There's the odd wrong name and a number of incorrect spellings, usually homophones - breeches vs breaches for one.The plot is decent, with the usual twists and turns and a satisfying denouement. It's a fun read and roll on Book 13.

Thraxas back in Turai, number one chariot investigator
He's back in Turai, as are Makri, Lisutaris, Gurd and Tanrose. We find out what happened to various minor past characters - many dead in the orcish invasion, some while refugees and others have survived - life goes on in the melting pot that is Turai. Some old enemies from the Brotherhood (common gangsters) make an appearance as do new enemies from the Society of Friends (gangsters cozy with the traditionalists who run Turai). Lisutaris is still war leader, now dealing with senators and acting consuls. In a city devoid of beer, our fat investigator hero must save the day - which he does, with help from an unexpected ally. A must read!

Great Light Reading (Much Needed in These Heavy Times)
Fantasy noir in a faux- mediaeval setting, with a big fat drunk investigator, whose understanding of women hovers around the negligible -to-non-existent level, and a super-bright but insecure part-Orc female sidekick who's considerably easier on the eye and deadly with a sword (or two). I loved this series when it first appeared and was disappointed when it seemed to peter out after Volume 8. I've just binge -read Vols. 9 - 12 and thoroughly enjoyed them. Don't expect Tolkien, this series, although it has serious moments, is firmly in the light entertainment groove - and exactly what I've been needing in these troubled times.

Thraxas returns to Turai

The a as is back!
In this latest installment Thraxas and Company have returned to Turai. Of course, shenanigans ensue, and Thraxas must solve a puzzling theft. I love the Thraxas books, and this is a welcome addition. All it needs is an eating competition, or maybe another card game. We learn the fate of many of the supporting characters, but there is no mention of Captain Rallee. Did he survive? Maybe the next book will tell. Do yourself a favor, a d buy all the Thraxas books! We all know who's the number 1 chariot at investigating!

Fantastic, and I think only one left! Aargh!
Martin Millar (Scott) proves that he's still number one chariot at writing, with this latest Thraxas book. It's interesting in that I think this is the first book to really flesh out the more vulnerable and compassionate sides of Thraxas; the series has seen him change considerably and here we are seeing him as an important Captain, very close to power, who had a huge part in saving the city (no spoilers really since the intro tells us that!) and still needs to actively carry on doing that, even though hardly anyone except his inner-circle respects him or acknowledges his efforts. Here we have Thraxas out of his War role and back into investigating, but with no beer. It's a good ride, but knowing that there's probably only one book, and knowing that it will probably not be available for a year or two, it feels too short, and would have even if it had 1000 pages.

Never turn down the chance for a beer!
Oh Thraxas, you are my hero! I've been following Thraxas from the beginning, book 1, and he never disappoints!! A stalwart and loyal friend to Makri, even if he calls her a pointy-eared Orc!

A Not So Secret Secret
This entry was worth the wait. They have retaken the city. Now it's time to rebuild and buy supplys. Fortunately they have a vault of gold hidden under the palace. Sadly it is the worst kept secret in the city. It's gone missing. Thraxas top chariot in investigation is on the case but he's not at his best given the lack of beer. Entertainment, misunderstandings, drug addled sorcerers and old enemies follow.

very satisfying
Another excellent Thraxas book. I hope there are many more. The book brings a long-story line to a close with bouts of comforting consistency from the fictional worldwe’ve come to know, yet with continued character development as well.
