Biltwell Solid Bubble Shield

I have a couple of these Biltwell shields, two tinted ones and a clear one for night riding, but I picked up this one because amber tint is legal after dark in my state (Colorado), and I was sick of switching back and forth.They all fit a standard five button really well (a Bell three quarter in my case), and are all reasonably scratch resistant. They let enough air through to keep from fogging without vibrating or getting that great wind tunnel sound. They're also easy to attach, less than ten seconds at most.As far as the nighttime riding is concerned, which is likely why you are looking at an amber shield, I find that this one works very well. Blocking out the harsher light does sort of mellow the glare at night and makes the shield very reasonable to ride with after dark. I see the most benefit in the twilight hours, where it gives things a sort of greenishy almost "tornado weather" appearance and really seems to up the visibility factor.Over all, I'd recommend any of the Biltwell shields. They are tough, easy to install, and very reasonably priced. And, I do think this amber is great for nighttime riding. If you are looking for this type of shield, this is definitely the one to get.

Got the Amber bubble shield yesterday and was out within the hour testing it out. It was about an hour before sunset and riding directly into the setting sun (there were a few thin clouds) was a breeze - no squinting, and I wasn't wearing sunglasses under the shield. (As one reviewer noted, this style shield does make it just about impossible to get your sunglasses on after you have the helmet on, so I was eager to see if I would really need my shades anyway). Sunset tends to be the most challenging time to have the right eyewear/shield for riding since the light conditions can change quickly from blinding brightness to dusky, low-contrast. With the amber shield everything was crisp regardless of which direction I was headed or if I was passing through low shadows or bright spots. In fact, it was hard for me to know just how bright or dusky the light really was outside of the shield. The sharpness and contrast of my surroundings was excellent.I paired this shield up with a new Slim Line CRUISER Daytona D.O.T 3/4 Helmet, and the fit was perfect. The shield's 3 snaps held it onto the helmet firmly although at lower speeds there was a very slight vibration between the edges of the shield and the part of helmet that comes down along the sides of my face since that part of the shield is not attached. It was not bothersome, but something I noticed since I've typically just worn sunglasses with an open face helmet in the past. There was little indication of this vibration at highway speeds, and very little wind noise.The bubble shield also provided great visibility - it was neat to be riding around with nothing blocking my vision ahead or peripherally. It was kind of liberating. Wish I had discovered this type of shield a while ago.

The shield fogs up until you start riding then clears up. It takes a little caution when snapping the shield onto the Bell 500 helmet. The first time I snapped it on, it didn't attach all the way and slipped off onto the ground. I like the style of the shield and I like the UV protection. I have not had to wear sunglasses under the shield even when the sun is directly in front of me. The price is a good value considering the fit, style and functionality of the shield. The shield is a much safer option versus goggles or glasses considering flying rocks, bugs and road debris that can hit you in the face when riding without full coverage.

Absolutely a must have. These bubble shields are great. I have an XL 3/4 Daytona helmet and it fits perfectly.I originally ordered it for my wife's helmet but once she saw it I don't think she was impressed of the looks. She opted out. I then tried it out the next day on my way to work which is a 45 min drive and a mix of city and highway. Told my wife about how nice my ride was and now she wants it back. So I've ordered a second because I'm not giving it back.I've snapped it on and off a couple of times. It takes some pressure to snap on and off so I would not recommend this if you want to constantly take it on and off. The snaps will probably break time after time of doing that. Not because it's a cheap product but it's probable. I plan on leaving it on my 3/4 DOT.Pros:1.Keeps my helmet from pulling up on my head on the highway.2.Keeps the bugs, rocks and road grim out of my face.3.Does not flop around.4.Does not distort my vision.5.Keeps the cold off my face.Cons:1.cold days will product condensation at the mouth and/or nose level.2.must master how to put your sunglasses on before putting your helmet on. Will be very difficult or impossible to put sunglasses on or off once your helmet/shield is on your head. I have the clear shield so sunglasses are still a must. I can not speak for the tinted shields.At the end of the day, 2 thumbs up. Harley Davidson sells them as well but be prepared to pay the HD price.

The snaps don't have the anvil on them like the picture, but that's not a big deal for me. Fits my gringo helmet great and kills tons of bugs. Keeps the wind out of my face. Good for night riding. I also have the rainbow mirror for days. I did crash my bike recently and this bubble shield saved my pretty face for sure. Some deep scratches were left in it and importantly none of the snaps came undone during the accident. These are great!
