It's a bit bulky for tight spaces but for the price does it job

This is one of those tools that really only has one use and although you can use other tools to roughly do what it does, there really is no substitute. I ordered this as I occasionally strap materials up for transporting to and from jobs, it looked robust from the photos so I figured I'd give it a go. Up to this point I had been using cheap water pump pliers to pull the strapping tight and cutting with tin snips which never really got things very tight at all - this tool is completely the opposite.The tool itself is reassuringly heavy - it certainly feels built to last. In use it works really well: attach your banding and buckles then pull it tight with the ratchet action and finally cut it off with the guillotine: its simplicity itself. There is no bend in the handles when tightening and if you require a bit more leverage the rear handle folds straight giving you a bit more oomph. The guillotine works similarly well although it does require a bit of elbow grease to cut.The ratchet has quite fine divisions so you dont have to struggle to get that final click when getting to full tightness so it saves getting sore hands (especially when using water pump pliers). If there is a negative to this tool it might be that it takes up lots of room in the toolbox as the lever for the guillotine sticks out and cant really be folded away and the spring on the ratchet mechanism means the handles are sprung open - that is just the nature of the tool and a small(ish) inconvenience when it works as well as it does.

Works great just make sure you order long enough ties so that there's enough for the icrimp to grab on to, to pull the tie tight!

When I received the stainless ties, I tried it out immediately and it works very well using theTies that cames with the tool that will replace the plastic wire ties that won't hold up in the heat of the sun.

This makes all the difference when using metal ties. You real can’t use them without it.

Returned a previous brand with a similar design - failed to tighten band after a few dozen. The iCrimp is better and worth the few dollars more - reliable and handier to use.
