Works with colored pencils, but...
The pencil sharpener works well with colored pencils, but each sharpening eats up so much pencil, that the life span of each pencil was half of using a manual sharpener. I ended up returning the sharpener for this reason, as colored pencils can be very expensive.

Rotating barrel won't stay in position.
Okay, you rotate the barrel for either long point or short point. Insert pencil. Barrel rotates with pencil. Only way I got this to work properly was by holding it SIDEWAYS, then inserting the pencil. The long or short selection process must be selected EVERY TIME YOU FINISH with a pencil. Was going to use this as my "desk sharpener". No way ... it walks in circles all over my desk.

Doesn't give you pointy tip
It doesn't give you pointy tip for the long shaft option. For the short shaft option, it's acceptable. It doesn't have indicator or mark to let you know which option you are at when you turn. It's huge, bigger than my pen holder. You have to plug into outlet for it to work. Overall I don't recommend it.

The last sharpener you’ll ever need
I am just going to say that if you draw and have any intention of getting your own work done professionally you need to get a tool adjusted as such a traditional pencil sharpener is ok for rudimentary drawn and writing but the shading and rendering need to upgrade your work can only be done two way with a razor or with this wonderful sharpener

It's tricky.
Too tricky. Should have returned this. The rotating barrel gets stuck. For an artist that needs quick sharpening of colored pencils, this isn't suitable. Thought is was something I was doing, but my husband tried to use it a couple of times, overheard him leaving the studio, 'this thing is awful.' Now it's just taking up room on my workbench. Too finicky.
