Lee has been in the men’s clothing business for a long time, by now you would think they would know how to get it right. And the thing is, they do. When a company does everything right, it shows. Even if sometimes a lot of it is very subtle.Okay, a tee shirt is a tee shirt, right? I mean how good does one have to be to be any better than all the rest of them? I consider myself a tee shirt expert, my wardrobe consists almost exclusively of tees and jeans - as a career photographer that my work outfit and that’s what I’m comfortable wearing most of the rest of the time. I do have a lot of them, and let me tell you, there is a world of difference between a good one and a bad one and it has nothing to do with the price or the label sewn in the collar. Well almost nothing to do with the label, because here I am telling you that Lee has a knack for making better ones.WHAT MAKES IT BETTERThere are three things that top my must-haves for me to really like a tee shirt. In no particular order is the fit, the thickness of the fabric and the color. That doesn’t leave a lot, does it? While it would seem that there should be some universal standard for the various dimensions of a shirt, let’s say the label says it’s called a Large. But where is it large? The shoulder width? The chest circumference? The taper? The length? The sleeves? Don’t bother me with all that, I just want to order it in the size I wear and have it fit me, which is defined that I should feel comfortable and good in it. Period. The fabric thickness is something most review neglect to discuss but to me it’s a big deal. Some are really undershirts, not tees, and there is a world of difference between the two. A good shirt should not be see-through nor should it cling to my body. On the other hand there are the ones that are slightly too thick, just enough that I can feel the weight of the shirt all day. Nope, that’s not getting it right for me. Then there’s that thing that is even discussed more seldom, the hue, not really the color but what it really looks like. I hope the days of men’s shirts only being made in a handful of basic earthy colors is gone forever. Lee gets it and I finally can buy something that makes me feel unique and like an individual. This one for example is rhubarb. Okay, define rhubarb, I bet you can’t. Even the camera doesn’t quite capture it. But it looks awesome. And if that’s not your favorite hue you can get your choice of basil, patriot blue, smoked pearl, a subdued yellow and of course basic Jobs black. All manly shades, but today’s man, not your grandfather.VALUELike everything else I think the price of sixteen bucks is just right. To me forty bucks for a tee is ridiculous and those ones I bought for five each - well you get what you pay for.YES OR NOThese are made in El Salvador, the attention to detail is significant. They have a lightly brushed insides that feels good all day. They are individualistic but not screaming loud. Lee seems to do everything right. I like these a lot, and it takes a lot to actually earn five stars.

This t-shirt gets many things right, yet the color is slightly different than represented but in a good way.1) The armholes (armholes are not the sleeves, they're the cut with a seam going around shoulder) are quite big and that makes the real difference for me. It means I can fit into size L and not have to get XL.2) Material is thin yet the shirt is not see-through.3) The color on mine, "smoked pearl", is a little different than product photos, it's really color #127 on the grey scale palate, I believe. The difference from product photos is the product photos show a touch of tan or brown whereas the shirt is grey without any brown.4) Sleeve length is ideal, I think. Product photos show it true.

This medium weight, comfortable and soft T-Shirt is exactly what my husband was looking for. 100% Cotton - which means this shirt is medium weight, comfortable, super soft with a bit of stretchOverall - Well made, Awesome color lineup and breathable!Price - Yes this does feature a higher price point for a single shirt - but if it lasts then it is worth every penny!Quality - The fabric features an excellent tighter weave that still has some stretch and breathability without being completely see though.The neck is tighter than I would prefer personally but my husband doesn't mind it at all.
