Interesting story, but the triangle noses are distracting
I enjoy the story of early computing and finding out the origin of computer "bugs", but the noses in the illustrations annoy me.

Informative and cute
This was a great interesting story. We used it for a woman’s history project for a first grader. He loves the anecdotes and her Nick name.

Fascinating lady
Who knew Grace Hopper invented the first computer code actual humans could read and understand? Lovely book about a fascinating person. Nice coverage of both her girlhood and adulthood; very well done.

The internal misogyny is real
The positive thing about this picture book is the illustrations. They're lovely. However, this book has a tendency to claim that being involved in STEM means you avoid being a homemaker or dressing in a feminine way. Although the protagonist is a fascinating, brilliant person, I was constantly distracted by the author's spin. I found myself stopping reading the book aloud to my Girl Scout troop to remind them that you don't need to be solely career driven to be a feminist, and that you don't have to eschew having a family. You can be a scientist and a mother. It seems short sighted to make a "feminist" book that pushes people to think that feminists have to look or live a certain way

Good intro to girls in math and women in science
Illustrations and story are well matched for this telling of the start of ordinary languages being used to program computers. That a female in the Navy realized the need for hands-on use of computers, rather than having a bottle neck in the form of waiting in line for programmers to enter data, can inspire young women. Importantly, it can also inspire young men that there is always a frontier for upcoming young people to make their mark. Quoting Grace: "If you've got a good idea, and you know it's going to work, go ahead and do it."

Action Hero
This treats Grace Hopper as an accessible action hero, one they can aspire to be. Obviously written and illustrated for small children, well executed version.

Fantastic biography of an early female computing pioneer
Grace Hooper's spirit and journey is deftly captured in this inspiring biography. The pictures are excellent and there is just enough prose to capture the story and inspire others to (and then use) Mathematics and Science skills.

Doesn’t quite fit on Kindle version...
I bought the book kindle version but I can't read it. It seems that images are too large, and doesn't fit. I can't zoom out either... But on cellphone kindle app is perfect, and is such a cute book. Very inspirational!

Beware, it's a comic book
