Warne makes a solid product.
This is actually my third SKEL Gen 2 mount, but my first one with some color (red). Prior to this I used the Burris PEPR mount, and was never really satisfied with it. See my review of that if you're considering it. I figured that was the compromise going with a budget product. I tried the Warne mount on a whim, and now I'm a complete convert. You can usually pick one of these up for less than $90 shipped. It's a rock solid mount, yet very lightweight. The product webpage claims it weighs 6.7 oz., yet mine came in at 6.5 oz. This is thanks to the removal of material from non-critical areas. The top and bottom of the rings are skeletonized. Also, the underside of the mount has 3 relief holes to further reduce weight. The 1/2 inch tactical nut is a very quick way to attach a mount. I used to be a sucker for QD levers, but they really don't save much time and they prevent you from tightening to a precise torque. I've had mounts shift on me because I guessed wrong with my QD lever tightness. Warne recommends 65 in-lbs, and I haven't had any movement using that spec. Each ring holds on to your scopes tube with 4 screws, using a recommended torque of 25 in-lb. The bottom ring halves are fitted with steel inserts, so no worries about stripping anything out. These inserts are the reason the rings have that wide appearance...in case you were wondering. At the end of the day it's a very good product, at a very good price.

Warne mount
Great product. All Warne mounting equipment is of high quality. Their stuff has been my go to lately for mounting scopes. Initially I had all Vortex and Leupold mounts, I went back through and replaced all of that junk with Warne. High quality stuff, would purchase again.

Great item, but may need some redesign
This is a great mount. Bought this to put on a Rem. 700 SA precision rifle. The MOA is just right for me with a 20 MOA rail mounted on the action. There are other 50-60 dollar QD mounts that are very similar, but with the steel threaded inserts that are installed on the rings these are a must when using an aluminum mount. The two cross bolts that tighten the mount onto the rail are square and not round, this is the way it should be as you want to mate the mount onto the rail with a tight tolerance. One down fall for me, "however may not be for others" is that the QD levers are located on the action side of the rifle. It does not interfere with the bolt or scope, however it is very close. Would work great for a left handed bolt action rifle with no interference. Overall this is a great mount, but unfortunately is a little over priced. Warne needs to consider a price drop as their competitors are manufacturing very similar mounts at a lower cost.

Sturdy, excellent quality mount
I purchased this mount to attach a LPVO scope to a patrol rifle. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality, fit and finish. I believe it will be a solid performer and meets my needs for professional law enforcement use. I recommend the use of a torque-style wrench to make sure you don’t over tighten the screws. I’d certainly purchase it again.

Thought I had stripped thread in one screw hole. Not so.
Update on previous review. After taking the screws out and trying a second time to mount the 34mm scope, I was successful in getting them all torqued to 25 in-lbs. Not sure why the suspected "stripped" screw wasn't getting a bite the first time. I'll take the blame. Now that 'problem' is no longer there, very happy with the mount. Successfully sighted in at range. I'll report back if anything changes.

Rock solid and stable
When I bought my thermal, I knew I had to match my investment with a high quality scope mount. This is the one to get. The quick release feature makes this mount a bit more flexible to quickly mount on other firearms. Installing the device was effortless. I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Do not overtighten the scope to the mount. Make it snug but not overdoing the tightening. I will be buying another mount when I get another scope soon.
