Voyageurs National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 264)

Best map for our vacation. We rented a houseboat and this map was better than what the company provided. We own several of these as they are extremely durable and thorough.

I use this map as a dispatcher for the National Park Rangers at Voyageurs. So far it has been very helpful in finding campsites, islands, trails measuring distances getting coordinates and finding boarders and general where is this in the park kind of answers. I haven’t used it on the ground so I have no physical comparison, but it has been a great addition to my tools for dispatching.

I love the look, feel and overall quality of Nat Geo trail maps. All the quality and artistry that has always gone into their magazine maps, goes into this series as well.

We bought this map prior to a (very fun) houseboat trip, and it joined two other maps as our primary navigation/dock choice documents. The map is beautifully-printed, the geography was faithful to what we encountered on the lake, and there were a number of details that were not present on our other maps. It's double-sided, easy-to-fold, tear- and water-resistant, and covers the whole of the park. We used it a lot to choose dock locations and to plan out our journey.One frustration with the map is that it is purely a map of the US National Park, so it greys out the Canada side of the lakes. At some parts of the park, that is half of the water and so navigation and orientation is difficult. But for Kabetogama and western Namakan Lakes especially, this is excellent.

If you boat camp in Voyageurs, this map is a must to navigate. They say the park service will have navigational maps, but when we got to Voyageurs, they were out of stock. Good thing for this map, as the area is very confusing and we would have gotten lost for sure!

You need to as it is the only way to go in VOYA to find all of the campsites. Warning phones don't work in VOYA old school maps is the way to go.
