Broke after 2 weeks of use, then replaced with redesigned unit by vendor
Clever, and useful, but it tended to fall off from the car I rented. I suppose it's a function of the thickness and angle of the vent slats in the particular car and the weight of the phone. But it's better than trying to prop the phone up on its own, and it's much easier to carry around than a suction cup gizmo. So I'd say it was a good purchase, but it's far from perfect.EDIT -- After using the product for less than 2 weeks (I've had it for several months, but I've only used it during two week-long car rentals), it broke. One of the four claws on the back that hold it to the air vent just broke off. Very disappointing. I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 1 because the product is very non-durable.EDIT AGAIN -- I'm adding back a star because of the extraordinary response of the vendor, S360. Even though the return period on this item had long ago lapsed, the vendor refunded my order and let me know when the item was back in stock so I could order a replacement from them. They told me that the new stock should be more durable than the original. Whether that's true remains to be seen, but the vendor did the right thing by standing behind his merchandise.FINAL EDIT -- The redesigned replacement appears to have sturdier jaws than the original. Adding a star.

Nice simplistic design, dependent on car vent/size of phone for stability
Placing a mount on the vents is the most optimal position you can put your phone in the car - suction cups will always lose their stickiness and fall off, freaking you out every time. It also doesn't block any view from your windshield. That's why I really like the minimalist simplicity of the device as far as air vent mounts go. There's no risk of it falling off or plopping down, causing you another mini-heart attack and risking a car accident. Downsides to this though - you can't turn the phone away/towards you side-to-side. It only rotates 360 degrees in a circle in a 2D plane (if that makes sense, you can see it in other video reviews here). Also, the clip did not secure to the vent as tightly as I expected it to. I think it works best with vents that aren't curved but rather for vents that are straight and flat. I think it worked better in a 2014 Mazda CX5 than a 2010 Toyota Corolla. As a result of this, it can't really handle fairly large phones such as the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 (slightly larger than the iPhone 6 PLUS and Galaxy Note's). That Huawei is probably as big as a phone gets before getting to phablet territory, so I can't really fault it for not working on one of the largest phones out there. When the mount latched on to this phone, it would clamp down/hit the power and volume buttons on the sides, and when we tried to place it away from these side buttons, the weight of the phone pushed to one side would make it slip and fall off the mount. It worked serviceably well for my old Samsung Galaxy SII though, so the smaller the phone the more stable it is on the mount. So if it works/fits in your car vent and you don't have a huge-butt phone, this mount is really great for the price!

Not bad for the price.
First things first: I drive a 2012 Chevy Traverse and have a Nokia Lumia 1520 (it's a 6 in phone). Useful info for those looking to get one of these. Also for those who did a bit of shopping beforehand: yes, it's quite similar to that other more expensive cell phone car mount. The attachment point to the vent is the same but the phone holder is designed differently. My thoughts:- Feels quite secure to the vent and I have no fear that it will fall out from a hard turn or bumps. From the time I used it I haven't even seen it budge.- The materials do seem a bit cheap but guess what, I didn't pay that much for it so I can't complain too much. The springs used do make a squeaking sound when you open and close it and the plastic seems pretty light.- Check the angle of your vent because whatever angle that is your phone will also be at that angle. My traverse has vents in the center console which lean back a good deal and while I could probably still use the phone like that, I opted to move it to the vent near the car door. It was more upright.- The jaws open up pretty wide. I can get my 6in phone in with a tiny bit of room to spare.- Putting your phone in is probably going to be a two handed affair.Would I recommend it? Yeah, why not? It's cheap and one of the few cell phone holder than can handle my 6 inch phone and also attach to the vent.

AVOID! Thin plastic coating peels off you will damage your air vents!!!
Bought this for my husband's truck as the one I use in my car is no longer available. It started out great ... it's now in the garbage. Pros: it fit the iphone 6 no problem, it had two sizes of the vent clips so it worked in hubby's F150 and my fusion, and it is easy to put the phone in or take out of the cradle. That's it. Cons: It doesn't lock in place!! With every bump in the road - and we had lots in Philly this winter! - every time we hit a bump or turned a corner so did the phone. Using it for GPS/Maps was infuriating because the phone kept tipping over. Bit of a safety hazard! AND those 'plastic' clips at the back are not plastic like the on mine, they are thinly veiled metal air vent gnashers. The thin plastic coating peels off and you scratch the air vents. So hubby is now off to work with my good air vent clip while I hunt for a replacement ...

Product works well, holds my Samsung Galaxy S4 mini ...
Product works well, holds my Samsung Galaxy S4 mini tightly with spring-loaded clamps. It secures well to the vent. You may have to move it from one vent slat to the next to find the right position for your vehicle, but for a simple solution for holding your phone in an easy-to-reach position, it works really well. The product is not bulky and is light enough to keep attached to your phone if you need to hold the phone up to your ear and talk while driving if you don't want to use speaker phone. I do not leave it attached to the vent when the car is parked in the hot sun. The extreme heat will cause the part that clips to the vent to get "soft" and may not hold your phone when you first get in the car. I'm not sure what it will do in the winter when heat is coming through the vent, but I suspect it will still work well.
