This is the essential mala, similar to the ones worn by Buddha, Gandhi and the Dalai Lama. The Rudraksha bead is the heart of Aum Rudraksha Designs creations, bringing today’s world the wisdom and power of the ancient sages in the form of contemporary malas. Adorned with rudraksha seeds, each piece is handcrafted, blessed and designed in Bali. The Rudraksha beads we use are grown on sustainable plantations in South East Asia and are authentic. The gems we use together with our rudraksha beads in malas and jewelry are highest quality and are only those that have power and healing aspects. This is a major part of what we are about. We check the vibration (power) of our beads, as many have a higher vibration than others and we use the best in our mala jewelry. The Rudraksha bead we mainly use is five mukhi representing Lord Shiva. Rudraksha beads are sacred and need to be treated with respect and care. Wash them once in a while to remove dirt and dust. Oil them with coconut or sandalwood oil to preserve them. They will turn darker with your own body oil when wearing them. This is the desired effect. Take them off when you sleep.

Tested Genuine Rudraksha Mala of Indonesian Origin
I purchased two malas from Aum Rudraksha Designs and I wanted to get them tested before leaving a review (not that I didn't trust the company or the other customer reviews); just for peace of mind. I have many rudraksha items and sent them all to be tested.Well both malas (I will leave a separate review for the other one too), came back as being genuine untampered with 5-mukti rudraksha seeds from Indonesian origin. Great Quality and nice luster! So I couldn't be happier, I will say that you can feel the pulse vibration in your hand when holding this mala but just wanted to test and be sure.So with proper care, this mala will last for generations! All seeds were perfect and healthy. Just be sure to take care of them, regular cleanings under cool fresh water and oiling regularly (about once a month add a drop of camphor oil to them to ensure bugs stay away if you store your mala). I use those tiny brushes that people use for braces, the soft kind, to really clean the bead.Hope this review helps!

Fantastic! Here's how to get one of reliable quality...
I hope to clear up some confusion here. I think there are a number of different distributors on this listing, selling different versions of the mala.To buy mine, I went to to "Buying choices" and ordered from "White Swan Distribution". It cost 19.99 and shipped Prime. What arrived was a very beautiful mala just like in the pics, with a scroll and bag. There was also a tag attached to the mala, and a few brochures. All these materials were printed with "Aum Rudraksha Designs" as the originator, "an offering from Bingin - Bali."The beads appear to be genuine and high quality. I poured distilled water into a bowl and dipped the beads (not the tassel) in for a few minutes. NO color came off. I blotted with a Kleenex, still NO color came off.I have no connection to "White Swan Distribution", I'm just happy to have gotten a great mala with a great vibe, and want other people to be able to do the same.TL;DR: for reliable quality, order from "White Swan Distribution" in the Buying Choices list.

Disappointed in low quality received from White Swan Distribution
I paid twenty dollars for this rudraksha mala from White Swan Distribution in order two ensure receiving top quality beads. Unfortunately, the beads I received are not high quality, and I am very disappointed in this product. In the 1970's I had a business importing and selling rudraksha beads through a mail order catalog. We imported the high-quality small beads from Indonesia (Bali), and also the larger beads grown in Nepal. We sold only "first quality" beads, which were always uniform in size, round in shape, somewhat smooth, and with the lines dividing the faces clearly defined. What I received from White Swan Distribution is nowhere near as good quality as what I am used to seeing in beads from Bali. These are clearly "second quality", not top quality as advertised. The beads are only approximately uniform in size, rather rough, and many of the beads are somewhat misshapen. Also, with many of the beads the lines defining the five faces are unclear or absent.I live in a remote rural area where it's a hassle to do returns, so I guess I'm stuck with a very disappointing low-quality rudraksha mala after having paid a premium price in hope of getting a high quality product.addenda on July 14, 2019: I sent a copy of this review to the seller who immediately refunded my purchase price. I appreciate the good customer service.

Caveat emptor. The beads I received didn't match the product description or photos.
The product description and photos of this item seemed wonderfuI, but the beads I actually received are very different:1) They are not 8mm with a total length of appx. 32"; the beads I received are 12-13mm and 60"long;2) They did not come in an organza gift bag (as described), nor was there a scroll enclosed, or any other kind of information from the craftspeople in Bali (they came in a clear plastic bag inside a plain envelope, mailed from a 3rd party in Frankfurt, Germany);3) The tassel looks nothing like the one in the photo. The one I received is only 1" long and is rather shoddy looking; there are loose threads where the tassel was knotted onto the string of beads;4) These beads have clearly been dyed. I pressed a moistened paper towel against the beads and it was immediately stained with red dye.Notwithstanding the very affordable price, I was disappointed that these beads were not at all as described. I expected to receive a string of 8mm natural (un-dyed) top quality beads, enclosed in an Aum gift bag, as shown, and including a scroll with prayers/information from the craftspeople.
