Together with this guide's book mother - "The Words of My Perfect Teacher" -, this book works as a vehicle of the good, correct and true understanding of the noblemen beginnings of the teachings of the Tibetan Buddhism. Who read the book above mentioned certainly was in ecstasy, such the beauty and depth of their teachings. A book wonderful, poetic, heart writing, for a master worthy of like this to be called. And this guide could not leave for minus, because that explains and you/he/she enlarges the understanding that she can reach to the if she reads Patrul Rinpoche's book. And to everything this is added the authority in the great master's Khenpo Hgawang Pelsang subject. These two books have to be acquired together: they are the alpha and omega of the tibetan Buddhism, Yin and Yang, it Lies and Heart, Body and Soul... Without these two preciousness, every understanding and daily practice of the Buddhist teachings they would be as powerful cars without fuel. It is now, with this two books the Buddhism is a car "totalflex" (bi-fuel), as we say in Brazil.

Wonderful, excellent. Great companion to My Perfect Teacher. Very practical guide that tells you how to do these ngondro accumulations, what to meditate on, how to really turn and train your mind. This is a treasure, we are so lucky to have this translated.

This is a gorgeous book, profound and important. Anyone who is seriously interested in buddhism, no matter what "style" or tradition, really should have this book on their shelves. That's all I really need to say about it. If I had to choose just five buddhist books to own, this would be one.

If you are doing the Longchen Nyingthik ngondro or if you are connected in any way to this lineage, this book will open new doors of understanding and depth for you. This is as close to oral pithy instructions as it gets in books. It is a true gem.

One of the most important books for Western Buddhists to be translated from the Tibetan is The Words of My Perfect Teacher and this Guide is helpful in understanding that great classic.

Indispensable *if* you are delving into WOMPT. Otherwise, I'd skip it. Enjoy!

When I studied the "The Words of My Perfect Teacher" I thought it was perfect and there was nothing more to be added. But now that I am studying "A Guide to the Words of My Perfect Teacher" I can see that there was more to "The Words of My Perfect Teacher" than I had been able to understand. Khenpo Ngawang Pelzang's commentaries show how precious it is to be able to read a text with the proper background (theoretical and practical). For the people like me that started studying Buddhism late in life being able to benefit from this kind of experience is very fortunate indeed.

This is great complement to The Words of My Perfect Teacher, by Patrul Rinpoche. It adds explanation to the root text that is often only given to students orally.Khenpo Nachung's scholarship is great and he is able to situate the wisdom contained in Words of My Perfect Teacher in the context of the Nyingmar lineage of Tibet and make comparisons with the knowledge and practice of other Buddhist schools and traditions, such as the Geluk and the Sakya traditions of the later translation schools.The English translation of this text is amazing and the footnotes provide a wealth of scholarship on Tibetan Buddhism that is rarely found in other such publications.Amazing!

This is a great book for life. Because of the explanations of Buddhist practice, the meaning goes deeper each time it is read.

Clearly written, served its purpose well in providing the guide intended, helpful adjunct to the main text for which it was a guide.
