Lithium ion battery dilemma - not all that bad
I read the reviews concerning the Lithium ion batteries not holding a charge... Lithium batteries do not hold a charge well... its the nature if the beast. Once fully charged the batteries can not be removed from the chargers and set aside. I had the same problem with the batteries not holding a charge. Only because I wasn't using them immediately after charging. Now I remove the batteries from the charger and immediately mow. I am getting nearly an hour of run time.

It sure look great but…
I have an EGO battery powered 20” mower and it works perfectly. I purchased the DeWalt DCMWSP255 on Amazon. Tried it for the first time this morning. The power drive is horrible. There is no way to set it to a fixed speed. Instead it has levers that you squeeze and attempt to hold at that speed while mowing. It goes from no-go to a fast trot. Sometimes it won’t move at all and I have to give it a push to start it moving. It’s horrible. I called DeWalt cust service and all they had to offer was “take it to a DeWalt authorized service center.” I live in Northern Arizona and found no service center. I am trying to return it to the Amazon seller, CPO Outlets, and they want me to pay for shipping! It’s a big and heavy box. Very expensive. I gave it one star because it looks cool. I’m a DeWalt guy through and through but this experience has been a real eye opener. I’ve always been a fan of DeWalt for their engineering but for this China made product I’m thinking DeWalt only designed the style elements.Update 8-4-22:The blade has a very non standard mount besides having very little lift. More of a mulching blade even though DeWalt says it’s somehow a mulching and lift blade for rear discharge. Oxymoron. Anyway I got a bow tie blade mount (very universal) and a bow tie lift blade. I haven’t tried it yet but will update.Update 8-13-22Installed the bow tie adapter and a high lift blade. Fantastic! The blade puts a higher load on the mower than the stock blade. As a result the mower always runs in the high speed mode and doesn’t switch back and forth between dewalt’s low and high speed mode. This is a good thing. The batteries run warmer as a result of powering a “fan” blade but not a problem. I did drill four 1-1/8” holes in the battery cover and the ventilation helps keep the batteries cooler. I now have a very functional lawn mower that not only looks great but works great too.

Vastly improved
First, I bought the older FWD version (DCMWSP244U2) of this mower, it was OK at best. Felt a little poorly constructed for DeWalt and the FWD was less than impressive. Then, I realized this new RWD version was available at Amazon. Threw old one in the truck, returned it, and bought this. After one cut, I can say it's significantly improved. Beyond the much-preferred RWD and larger rear wheels, it offers grab bars for lifting, one-lever height adjustment, better designed bag clips attaching bag to frame, and just higher quality, more solid feel. So, I recommend this mower. BUT, THERE ARE A COUPLE NEGATIVES: It comes with two of the very slow DCB107 battery chargers, which means it'll take a long time for batteries to recharge. Not a big deal for most people since there's more than enough charge for at least a 1/2 acre lot, likely more. But, still, DeWalt, you could have thrown in a better, faster charger (and a double charger instead of two singles). Also, the box it was shipped in was complete garbage - cheap, thin, and just barely holding together when product arrived at my doorstep. Luckily, the mower was ok but with such flimsy boxes, I have to imagine they're going to have issues with products arriving damaged. Lastly, WATCH THE PRICES. I bought this 6 days ago on Amazon for $790. Yeah, it's a lot, but the batteries alone are worth $330 and can be used in any DeWalt 20V tool...big plus since you can now save $$ in future by buying bare tools (without battery). But looking today when I came to write this review, they're charging $1,028 (??!!). No way would I pay that. If that's still the price, wait for it to fall again!!

Sub par batteries
Could have chosen a better and longer lasting battery. Easy to operate, light weight. Doesn’t suck leaves and such off the ground as well as I had hoped .

The battery problems
It worked ok for the first two cuts. Then it started shutting down after 5 minutes, even when the first battery still had juice. I had tried several times to restart, but the results were still abysmal. Very disappointed. I had hope to do away with gasoline powered mower. Very dis with this DeWalt .

Disappointing batteries
Mower worked as advertised on first time using. My yard is around 4600 square feet….fairly flat and takes approximately 45 minutes to mow. Second time mowing today, fully charged batteries died after 31 minutes. Very disappointing for a $750 mower.

Works great
I recently picked this up, used; the previous owner said he used it about ten times.I charged both 10ah batteries and was able to mow the same amount of lawn that my Honda gas mower would cover on a full tank. However, I used the self-propel very little...no more than 1 minute; that being said, the mower is so light it's hardly needed. The cut quality is actually better than my Honda. I'm not sure how to explain this, given the Honda has two blades.I bagged a small amount and that worked well. Also, the blade ramp up/down works very well. In fact, I'm shocked how quickly the mower sensed the need to adjust power as I got into different parts of my lawn. This Dewalt mower is now my go-to. I'll hang on to my Honda, as I expect to need it in the spring given the very tall/wet grass that I often mow then. However, Dewalt batteries should get "bigger" and less expensive...I'll shed the Honda mower at some point.Very happy with this mower!
