Excellent portrayal of the US Army’s detective unit who brought the Third Reich’s monsters to trial.
Mr. Dunphy did an excellent job researching and compiling information on the extraordinary work performed by the soldiers of the 7708th War Crimes Unit, commencing near the end of WWII in the ETO and continuing afterwards. Of particular interest was his first-person interviews with some of the investigators. My only regret is that my late father-in-law, who was a member of the 7708th WCU, and is pictured on page 30 of Mr. Dunphy’s work, didn’t live to see its publication. Kudos to John Dunphy and to the memory of the 7708 War Crimes Unit who know what it’s like to fight monsters.
