Guys Come Together To Solve Crimes and Family Mysteries!
Two Guys Detective Agency is my first Stephanie Bond book. I found Bond's way of delivering the two main characters and their families enjoyable. The story got me involved from the beginning and I found myself routing for both characters success. It was impossible for me to put the book down. This is the first mystery humor book for me and I can see why TV might be interested in creating a series. The plot gives us small pieces of of a puzzle and then explains how each of the main characters worked on putting the pieces together. We gradually learn why the two characters didn't care for other. They constantly picked at each others mistakes to show why everything was such a mess. The issues between the two key characters seems to rub off on their families as well as the characters in their social and business arenas. Bond is able to keep pursuit of solving the crime/mystery in the forefront of the story line. Solution to the mystery touches all of characters differently. As answers to what the two investigators (our main characters)considered the only problem, they find there were new mysteries needing answers before they could move on.Bond used the differences in lifestyles of the main characters to show how to deal with fair weathered friends. The way Bond used a female DA to but emphasis on the old issue of women were supposed stay home. She showed how issues of the past can effect the future. Bonds weaves the importance of working together to overcome stereotypes in the workplace and the home front. The story line brought the two sisters together to work as a team which increased the strength of both main charactersTwo Guy Detectives Agency is a great read. My only issue is I wanted more in the last two chapters. Linda and Octavia Guy, Bond's key characters still had two unsolved pieces of the puzzle. Each sister had an unsolved piece of the puzzle. Linda's missing Sullivan Agency case file and Octavia's mystery envelope hidden at Grim's pawn shop. We all were left wanting to know the significance of the case file and the sealed envelope. These two mysteries prick my desire to read Two Guys Detective Agency Book #2.If Bond had written a bridge or teaser giving a hint I would find my answers in Book #2. Without the hook, I couldn't give a 5 star rating to Two Guys. If only there was 4.5 star rating available. So I had to give a 4 star rating and strong recommendation to read this book. I look forward to the release of Stephanie Bond's next installment of Two Guys Detective Agency.

Great premise for a mystery series; loved these characters!
Linda and Octavia are sisters, but sharing the same mother and father is about all they have in common. In fact, they rarely see each other and their relationship consists of a couple of obligatory phone calls when the holidays roll around.Linda got married before she finished college and is raising two kids in a shamble of a house in Lexington, KY. She spends her days pinching pennies and wondering how her life has become so predictable and so unfulfilling. Octavia is married to a very successful lawyer in nearby Louisville and spends her days just... spending. Octavia has it all, and then some.A couple of events change circumstances drastically, and the two sisters find themselves scrambling to keep their heads above water. Neither one has held down a job for the last decade, but oddly enough they find that they may just have a knack for doing investigative work in their own unconventional way.I tried to keep my synopsis vague, because half the fun of this story is finding out how Linda and Octavia are thrown together. I absolutely loved these characters! Octavia is outrageously rude and ballsy and is a great counterpart to Linda's more sensible and maternal personality. There's a lot of humor but the storyline is not all just for laughs. There are a few intriguing mysteries woven throughout the plot and some really touching parts also. The dialog was quick and witty and the supporting characters are terrific - I see a lot of potential material for further installments. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one.Occasional strong language; no sexual content."Money didn't buy happiness, but it could certainly lubricate the sad times." (Loc 998)"Jesus God. How depressing was her life when a waffle was the highlight of her day?" (Loc 1330)

Promising Begining of a New Series....
This is a story about two sisters - estranged but brought together by mutual need.Linda Guy Smith is a stay at home mom with two kids, a "in process of being renovated" home who has never worked. Her sister Octavia who also has never worked (she married a lawyer and accepted his lifestyle as her own) comes to the funeral when Linda's husband suddenly dies. When Octavia's husband mysteriously disappears, they agree to combine their talents to survive as both husbands have left them broke.Stephanie Bond has taken two sisters (opposites in many ways) and made them into a team. One Mom and one social butterfly add up to make a team that is not only strong, but clever in the way that they solve the cases that were unresolved at the time of Linda's husbands sudden death. I would give it a four and a half star rating. A fun read that at the end of the book leaves you wanting more... go girls!

What's Happening at the Two Guys Detective Agency?
This book was entertaining. I enjoyed the relationship of the sisters and how the Two Guys Detective Agency came about. I too thought of it as a prequal to a continuing series that would develop the characters introduced. So, I wasn't disappointed in the book, only in that I cannot find the follow-up books to the story. If it is a stand-alone book, then it is lacking. It was published a couple years ago, so there should be another book or two in the "series" to complete the story or at least bring some resolution to some of the mysteries that are left dangling in this introduction. So where are they?

Fun read
OK, it's not the best I've read but it is a feel good light read. I like her style! When you are feeling down, it's a spirit lifter.
