The house is heavy and installing at 10 to 20 feet off the ground is difficult and dangerous. My recommendation are that you 1) pick out the perfect location and test fit the house to the tree, 2) screw a ledger board onto the tree that you can rest the house to support its weight, 3) hammer a roofing nail into one of the upper holes to quickly hold the house in place so that you can, at your leisure screw the house to the tree, 4) use Spax T-Star lags, not the provided screws.The provided screws were wholly insufficient for use on a hackberry tree because I could not screw into the the wood because it was too hard. At a height of 15’, pre-drilling holes, and then using the provided screws were impossible. Instead I used SPAX screws with a T 30 driver, which mitigated stripping the screw heads and driver. The SPAX screws had a very wide washer sized head, which I think is critical, because when you install the house on to a tree, most likely the back of the house will not be firmly against the tree and therefore becomes a stress point. Having an extra large screw head helps distribute the load. I elected to use extra screws and I was careful not to over tighten the screws where the house did not firmly touch the tree.

It’s really nice but this is a simple box. Can’t imagine why the price is so high. I built my own for less than $30.
