Good Layout
I found the Esprios Classic's print of Watkin Tench's observatioons to be superior to some that I had seen. Good sized print and organization of the account.

Watkin Tench
The book is an actual account of from someone who arrived with the first fleet to Australia. Unlike many accounts written since this is an unbiased account of the settlement from a very talented young officer who recounts what he saw and lived through. A must for any Australian interested in where we came from. Excellent book written in the language of the time. Read also William Buckleys account of the first settlement in Victoria and his 32 years with the aborigines.

Compare and contrast
An interesting adjunct to read with 'To Brave Every Danger' - and cheap too! There is much left unsaid but it is very revealing of the age it was written in. One is grateful not to be living in those times.

Fascinating and well produced
Fascinating and at times moving first-hand account of the first English settlement in Australia, in a well produced facsimile edition.

Watkin Tench's Narrative
Absolutely authentic, very interesting, very revealing of hardships everyone had to endure, but very very dry; - a slim volume, it took me a month to get through.
