Pretty good lip balm
I got my sister hooked on this lip balm when she came out to visit me last. I gave it to her because she was complaining her lips were dry. When she ran out of that tube, She emailed me asking me if I could buy it for her out where I am (San Diego) because she could not find it anywhere in her area (upstate NY). I knew Amazon had it so I just sent her a box of 10. She was very pleased.I must have lip balm. I can't stand dry lips. I have always said in answer to what ever variation of "what would you take with you if you were going to exiled on a deserted island" it would have to be lip balm, lotion, and toilet paper would be nice :o). I hate a product that doesn't moisturize but just coats your lips. This product does moisturize, it also has sunscreen in and since I live in sunny San Diego, that is good for me. It doesn't soak in too quickly and leave your lips feeling dryer like some other products. The only complaint I have if you use it excessively it can make your lips feel funny, a little different texture. That problem will last less than 24 hours if you back off it a bit. Yeah I found that out because I use it a lot.

Best of the Bunch I Tried
I bought this lip balm along with Banana Boat's Sport and Hawaiian Tropics "Tropical" flavor lip balms. I have already reviewed the other two. The Hawaiian Tropic tasted horrible and left a bitter saccharine aftertaste. It has since gone in the trash can. The Banana Boat Sport was definitely better, but still had a bad taste and aftertaste. This balm, Banana Boat Aloe Vera etc. did not have an initial bad taste, although it developed one within a half hour. It also left a bad aftertaste, but I am beginning to think, the aftertaste must be due to the sunscreen chemicals. All in all, the Aloe Vera version is my favorite out of necessity. I believe when you are shopping for a sunscreen lip balm, you are basically looking for the least awful one. They all have the same percentages of active ingredients and offer between a 45 and 50 SPF. They all seem to be water resistant for 80 minutes. The difference seems to be flavoring. Why Hawaiian Tropic has chosen saccharine is beyond me, but if it is representative of flavored lip balms in general, I would recommend avoiding them and sticking to the plain flavorless variety.

Very Good Lip Balm with SPF45
I was looking for a lip balm with sunscreen for my lips and was having a hard time finding one with a higher SPF than 15. I was happy that I found this one that has an SPF 45 on Amazon because I was not having any luck at my local drugstores. All in all, I have to say that this is a pretty good lip balm, it keeps my lips pretty smooth and is also protecting my lips from the sun rays at the same time.

One of the Best Lip Balms with Sun Protection
Banana Boat products are a mixed bag. Some are very good, some irritate the skin, some are just ineffective. They're just like every skin care company! This lip balm, for daytime, is truly excellent. It is a bit waxy-feeling, meaning when you apply it, it doesn't feel like it's sticking to your lips. It does need to warm to your lips as you're applying it, but it doesn't drag across your lips either. The label say it contains flavor - YUCK! But I can't taste it. Hallelujah! The active sunscreen ingredients are synthetic, which means you must apply the product 20 minutes before exposure to the sun. And if you are allergic to avobenzone, octocrylene, or oxybenzone, you need to avoid this product.Bottom line: An effective sun protection product that is non-irritating, and inexpensive, and has no qualities that will offend your sensibilities.

For the pragmatic outdoorsy folk,
I've always liked the Banana Boat smellMost people don't know this, but you can get skin cancer on your lips and I'm not putting sunscreen on my lips. This is my preferred, go to lip balm.

Last and works
I tried this years ago as I was traveling in a dry area and had summer dry chapped lips something I never did before, this works very good and the protection seems to last all day, it works equally as well for me in the winter. I had been using the other big name lip balm I used for years in the winter before purchasing this purely out of necessity as this was only brand they had and haven't used the other since.

Great sun protection and moisturizing benefits!
I love this stuff. It has a smooth, buttery texture and therefore provides instant relief to sore lips. The smell and taste are faint, but are refreshing and tropical. I purchased this for the spf factor (as I work in the sun) , and have ended up using it as an all-around lip balm. It's easily the best 45 rated spf lip balm I've tried.

Thank you for saving my lips!
Thank you, oh Banana Boat Sunscreen Lip Balm, for saving my lips from blistering in the Florida-summer heat. Being from Michigan and light-skinned, I was very afraid of what the sun would do to me at Disney world- being exposed to its cruel UV rays all day. Luckily, my lips were saved and never blistered once!
