I use these to reduce the heat used on my hair. Instead of blow drying my natural hair (no relaxer), I use these rollers which help to pull my hair straight enough that I do not have to blow dry and then I can use flat iron to press the root of my hair.

They fall right out
I have fine, somewhat thinning gray hair, which when air dries is frizzy curly. I’ve been using Velcro rollers for years but noticed they were pulling out numerous strands of hair. When I tried the hourglass rollers, they were so heavy they dropped right out of my hair even with the recommended pins. So I decided to return them and the company chided me for not looking at all the online tutorials. So I looked them all up and discovered that only women of color with very substantial hair were using them. The company never made that clear in the product description. If you have fine hair, these rollers are not for you.
