I have found the straight fit to be quite a bit narrower than the Classic fit. For example the size 36/29 that I wear the seat is 43" and the diameter of the leg at the bottom is 8 1/4 " where as on the 36/29 Classic fit the seat is 44" and the diameter of the leg at the bottom is 8 5/8" diameter. If you have thin legs the straight fit look better.
