Hawk TZ2990 Multi Head Hollow Punch Set

For under 10 bucks, shipped (6/2013) I got nine punches and a handle. The advertisement says they are made of stainless steel, which I believe, however, it's a probably ferritic stainless (since it's magnetic, unlike austenitics, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, like a lot of martensitics). This also means it's comparatively soft, a fact I confirmed by cutting/scraping a bit of the inside of the tool with a craft knife. The knife easily produced a long curly shaving. Now, this basically means that these won't ever be able to be sharp enough to shave with. But then, that's not what you're considering these for. Is it?Enough negatives.They work great for what I'm using them for; punching a few hundred holes in 2-6mm EVA foam. They may work for some kinds of fabrics, maybe leather, maybe hard rubber; I don't know and can't say at this point, I've only used them for EVA.Pros:Good range of sizesPriceCons:Not terribly sharp out of the boxBottom Line:Again, if you're looking for precision machined Austrian super-steel, um, you're in the wrong place. However, if you need some cheep punches to handle the occasional and easily punched task, I think these are worth considering.

This is not what I expected. Not bad - nothing is wrong with the product, and I was searching for something different and this looked like the thing, and was not. Wish the descriptions were a little more accurate

Product arrived quickly and is as pictured. This is a heavy duty / good quality punch set. I would recommend this product and would also purchase from this vendor again.
