Stands on its own
This is the second cane I order from Novo and I absolutely love it. The first one had the base that didn't always stand on its own but this one is perfect. It is a beautiful color and I love the quality. It's exactly as described and better than any cane I've had before. I waited a little longer than usual for it but was well worth it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good and sturdy cane to order this one. You won't be disappointed.

Updated: bought this cane 2 years ago, still mostly really like it!
An update 2 years out from purchasing: The cane itself still holds up great, still just as strong & stable as it was when it arrived, my only complaint is you do have to buy replacement bases every 3-5 months (more frequently if you NEED it to be standing on its own; the base wears down enough to be easily tippable at about 2 months in to each new base). Depending on the specific store, you can find them at CVS for 10$ though (cheaper than on Amazon)! Still definitely recommend this :)This is the first cane I've ever bought so I don't consider myself an expert on mobility aids, but I can say that I'm very happy with this cane. I've suffered joint + muscle pain/fatigue for a long time and was never able to find any relief, and after just a couple days of using the cane I already found walking much easier and I don't get as exhausted from it anymore. I'm gonna be really thorough here, since I'm a little obsessive when shopping online and figured other people would appreciate more detail over less. The fact that it comes assembled is awesome. The cane has several holes down its side with a sort of button that sticks out of them, and you can adjust the height of the cane by pushing the button inside which allows you to slide the cane up or down until the button lines up with another one of the holes and pops out. I mention this because I have frail hands and couldn't push the button in without getting my wife to help. It keeps the cane very steady though, there hasn't been any sort of rattling or instability in the weeks I've been using it. It has a great height range. I have it set to the very middle and I'm 5'2.The bottom is a sort of tough silicon detachable base, probably so you can just buy a replacement base as it wears down instead of having to throw out the whole cane. It doesn't come off during normal use, you can only really displace it when you're actually trying to. That said, I do occasionally put my weight (I'm 175lbs) on the cane to help stand up from sitting, and it does push it off balance from the base a little bit sometimes, but it's easy to force it back to center. It sucks that the replacement bases are 17$ each (at least at the time of posting this) - I was expecting them to be cheaper. I'm not sure yet approximately how often you would need to buy a replacement, especially if you use the cane outdoors every day. I don't exactly go outside for hours at a time everyday, but I have taken the cane out on rough gravel and pavement, and it wore down the plastic base just a little bit. On each foot of the base there are little flat squares that are just barely raised, and some of the squares on my cane's base have rubbed off which means the cane isn't quite as stable as it was when the base was brand new. It doesn't seem to take any damage on regular floors, though, so I've just been avoiding using it on rough terrain. The cane still stands well enough. I just have to be a little more careful not to tap it so it doesn't fall, and it still works perfectly fine when I use it. If you use it outdoors everyday, you'll probably have to get replacement bases every so often. If you wear very flowy clothing (like PJ pants, dresses, skirts) the base can get caught it in every so often as you walk, but it's still very unintrusive and a much better alternative to the more classic bigger-footed canes, in my opinion.Tldr; Great cane for a decent price, minor issues with adjusting the height for weaker-handed users and some small complaints with the durability + price of the replaceable bases but it's probably not an issue as long as you're not offroading with it all day everyday, and I still love it enough to give it the full 5 stars. I was considering some much cheaper canes from Amazon, but I'm glad I took the dive on this one. Worth the extra 10 or 20$. Also: get the Walnut Grain print. It looks slick as heck and I get compliments on it left and right.
