Fantastic find for curious young explorers!
I have a son who is almost six and he LOVES to learn about things, especially when it comes to earth and space. I surprised him with this book recently, and he’s been devouring the pages, talking about when he’ll be able to see the different things in real life. I was quickly satisfied with my purchase, especially because my little brainiac quickly goes through all our books and is always wanting more. My only complaint is that there aren’t more in the series! We would have loved to order a whole bunch, spanning all the different areas across North America or anywhere else in the world! I suppose I’ll have to look elsewhere for some nature guides but for now, this one gives us plenty to explore. The artwork is detailed and beautiful. We love looking through it together.

Beautiful Illustrations
Really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are lovely and the info is good. Wish this were a series so we could read about the whole USA!

I bought this to share with my grandchildren, but I am learning as much as they are. I love this book. Highly recommend. It is well written with great illustrations.

Missing the large fauna but otherwise amazing
I've been excitedly waiting for the release of this book for a few months. It's without a doubt the best book for kids about PNW flora and fauna that I've found. What is in it is beautiful and well explained. That said, I was disappointed to find that it's missing black bears, cougars, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, grey squirrels, hawks (but there are 3 species of owl)- all of which live in our neighborhood just 40 mins from Seattle. I was hoping they would be included so that my kids could learn about them too.Maybe the next book? ;)

Great for PNW kids
This is a great reference guide for kids (and their adults!) in the PNW. My 4 year old loves it because it includes things that we see regularly on our explorations. It contains just enough info about each item to keep her interested (and she's been looking for the behaviors or identifying marks she's learned about when we are out in nature), but not so much information that she gets overwhelmed and loses interest. I've learned a few things myself! Highly recommend.

A must have
One of our little ones favorite books right now. We pick a critter, read about it, then look up videos or photos of it. She absolutely loves the banana slug. This is a must have. Especially if you plan on homeschooling or having a nature based lover.

Great book for kids going camping
I got this guide as a gift for my 6 year old daughter before our camping trip in the Cascade mountains. She loved it! She immediately was looking through and reading the names of all the animals listed in the guide. Throughout the trip I had to keep telling her to turn off the flashlight reading the book and get to sleep.Strongly recommend this book.

Wonderful book for inquiring young minds
Wonderful book for kids eager to learn about nature & who like detailed information about the creatures they encounter. I read it with my 7 yr old grandson at bedtime when he visited this summer.

Beautiful and interesting
I purchased this book for my daughter, but I’m finding it just as interesting! The illustrations are life-like, which is hard to find in children’s books, and the descriptions are short but useful. Perfect for quick identification during camping or recalling your day after a hike.
