A beautiful short introduction to philosophy
Irrespective of which philosophical tradition you are planning to study - Western, Indian, Chinese, etc. - this small book will prepare you with the topics that will be discussed. The contents of this book are mandatory for any student of Science, Religion or Philosophy. The narration is very light and smooth. It is quite readable. I and my fourteen year old daughter both really enjoyed the book.

Insightful reading
I spent £8.00 on a book which is almost like a pamphlet that they give out for free and I read it in under one day. I should be disappointed right? I didn't get much for my money? On the contrary, this book was absolutely fascinating. I may have read it in under a day, but I'll likely read it again and the knowledge I gained from it will never leave me. This book does an amazing job at 'wetting your appetite' for more philosophy. It's a fantastic starting point and will make you think deep about some of the most important and unanswered questions in life. Yes, I've had other books which took me longer to read, but this is simply a case of less is more. I'm sure I won't feel like reading a lot of my other books over and over again, whereas I will certainly go back to this with ease and therefore, I've definitely got my moneys worth!

Great philosophical starting point
Great introduction to the subject. I knew very little about philosophy but wanted to learn more. Obviously philosophy is a very broad subject so I had no idea where to start. This book gave me the perfect entry. Its literally is a short introduction so you can finish it in one sitting.Ultimately philosophy is about thinking for yourself, but this book lays out some basic philosophical questions for you to start thinking about.Be forewarned, reading this book may open up a philosophical rabbit hole that you may never get out of. But if thats your thing, this is the next book you need to buy.

Very cursory and not useful as an introduction to Philosophy as an academic discipline
This book is really nicely written and it considers lots of philosophical questions, but, in its brevity and simplicity, it almost couldn't be considered an 'introduction to philosophy'. Nagel doesn't reference any thinkers or schools of thought, and while this isn't problematic in itself, it means one shouldn't buy the book if they want an introduction to Philosophy. Instead this book would be useful for someone with no real interest in Philosophy as an academic discipline, who wants to know some of the questions of philosophy without really considering them.

Momentary
Like all these books: great when you're reading. You feel really intelligent. But afterwards?

Don’t waste your money.
This book poses badly throughout questions and badly constructed arguments. Although it is only 100 pages it would be a waste of time to read it. Don’t waste your money.Go for the classics.
