TealyraPremium Gyokuro Kokyu - Japanese Green Tea - Finese Loose Leaf Tea - Good Priced for High Grade Japanese Tea - 200g (7-ounce)

This one is worth trying to save a bit of money but not something I would serve to a guest with pride.
I'm going to compare this with my favorite tea, the first flush Yame you can find from this same vender. I really wanted to like this tea and I suppose I do but I don't love it. It brews up well giving me a nice vibrant green color just like the my first flush Yame. Color 5/5 appears to be lit from withinLooking at the leafs it is obviously a blend of two teas, I knew it was a blend when I bought it and thats what they have to do to keep the price down. The issue is the leafs on the top of the bag were much larger and this tea was not very good at all. It had stems and the flavor was very meh. It didn't have any ocean breeze notes or perfume'y floral notes it just made green bitter water. As I worked my way through the bag the flavor became more vegetal and the leaf looked smaller ( I like vegetal grassy teas this is a good thing) . The tea at the bottom of the bag had a much finer consistency and the leaf were quite small. I suspect the two teas in this blend separated so be sure to mix up this bag and perhaps you will have a better experience than me. Flavor is only a 2/5 for me, sorry. This takes a bit more time to brew than my go to Yame first flush Gyokuro with water a 165º F and I suspect this is because it isnt shaded as long. For the price I don't want to recommend this tea. another $5 will get you a tea I much prefer. I found that this tea upset my stomach a few times something I didn't think my possible as I have a gyokuro hardened iron kettle stomach.

Excellent gyokuro
Full disclosure: I’m a dedicated tea snob. We drink mostly premium Japanese tea, which is hard to find where we live now. This tea is excellent. A fine Gyokuro, a mellow taste with the right amount of grassiness, great bright green colour. This can compare with some of the better Japanese teas I have found elsewhere and I just ordered a new batch.

won't confirm organic
advertised as organic but the package I received did not say so. I asked here for confirmation and there was no reply

Tea is top notch
I have been drinking Gyokuro for years. I always bought from Teavana until they closed. This tea is exquisite. The look and smell is so fresh and authentic. I’m glad I discovered Tealyra. I also buy their Jasmine Pearl and Sencha. Both excellent

The Champagne of tea.
This is the best quality green gyokuro I have had in a long time. Beautiful rich flavor and color. If you are a green tea snob you will not be disappointed with this tea. Fresh and delicious. Price was very good and it also came with a 25% off your next order coupon.

quite good
I'm not an expert, but I've had a lot of green tea over the years and participated in tastings. This was very good and a good value. It arrived on time. The company looks committed. I'd buy it again. The package came with a 25% discount code off your next order from Tealyra's website which I've now taken advantage of.

Great Japanese tea!
I love the deep green color and sweet, wonderful taste. I also love the fact that this tea comes from a region of Japan far from various harmful contaminations and is grown organically. It is however expensive. I mix it with the Tealyra Sencha, which is a bit less expensive and has additional benefits, although it adds some yellow/red tones (presumable from more exposure to sun) and a bit bitterness to the taste.

Not worth purchasing.
This product produces the worst cup of tea I've ever had. It is similar to drinking hot water with a bit of algae added. I've had inexpensive tea bags from a supermarket that produced better brewed tea.

Not Impressed
I recently finished a batch of the same Gyokuro tea from a different company and it was fresh and flavourful. With this batch from Tealyra I have to use more than double the amount of tea to get less flavour and a lower quality flavour.I follow the directions and steep the tea between 170 and 175 degrees farenheit and for 2 minutes maximum. The new tea...I have to soak for longer and it becomes bitter trying to get the full flavour I was used to even when I use double. Really not happy with this so called deal.Stephen Carter

tastes good, lots of dust, NOT ORGANIC
the tea itself tastes great, however, with the amount of tea you get a fair bit of dust, and the tea is not vacuum-sealed unlike some other brands. for the price, it's ok, not great, not terrible.although it's advertised as organic, there's no confirmation that it is, and the seller will not provide any documentation. this is false advertisement.

Good quality
I agree with other reviewers that the leaves seems like grass trimings, but it does not affect the taste of it. The leaves are of a rich green and of a nice aroma. It makes a wonderful cup of tea. I am not afraid to recommend it.

Not that great, just OK
The flavor is below average sencha flavor available from any decent source in Japan. If you are purchasing in North America and are unable to go to Japan and have no vendors of fresh leaf tea this might be worth a try. It was OK for that reason. But nothing gyokuro about it flavor-wise. It has hints of good sencha taste and aroma if brewed well, but you need to be careful.

Tealyra - Premium Gyokuro Kokyu
This is a beautiful light coloured tea. As far as I know and I have tried many types of tea this is marvellous.
