This key works for those who have the original key, but no longer functioning. I haven't tried to get it cut. I just added it to my key ring to operate the door locks etc. If you are having trouble with programming there are instruction videos online.

Great value
Great key for the price, although you would need a locksmith to cut it and program it

It works but......
So, the key and built in fob do work as advised. However, most locksmiths won't cut a key that they didn't sell. BMW certainly wouldn't!I managed to find a friend that had a locksmith friend that owed him favor and was willing to cut the key.The fob part is easy to program but the key Transponder "must" be programmed by BMW. They will not program a key that they didn't sell.I found "a guy" on Craigslist that would program it for $50.Basically, my recommendation is go to BMW, suck it up, buy the key from them.

Key and remote work fine, delivered promptly
Not much really to say other than this key/fob remote worked exactly as it should and didn't take long to get here. I was gratified to not have to pay 5 times the price from a dealer.

BMW key for 2010 X3
I was able to cut the key no problems. I was even able to program the key to lock/unlock the doors. However, I can not get this thing to "run" the car. Fist, I have to put a know working key in and out of ignition, then the new key will work. In a half an hour the new key wont start the car. I went into the BMW computer using foxwell. The identifier on the key is "86". Well you need a key with an identifier from 1-10. Not happy with this key at all.

Works great, I cut and program keys in the NoVA area, [email protected]

Used for locks only
Works great as just a key fob to lock and unlock doors

Not the ignition
Tried at home with AK90 and at a locksmith, both options failed to program the immobilizer. Cutting the key alone will not do it. Although, I was able to program door, windows and trunk.

If you are buying this for 2008 x3 or older, DON'T
I bought this for a spare fr my 2008 BMW X3. I programmed it to lock and unlock the doors, no problem. I then took it to an automotive locksmith to have the key cut to the original. Again, no problem. Took it out an tried it, it unlocks the door with the key. I put it in the ignition turned it and it would not start. Apparently there is different programming for these to use to start the car. The BMW dealership would not look at programming this aftermarket key but would sell me an o.e.m. key for $345. So this key that I bought for $20 and had cut for $50 will not start the car and is almost useless. Don't buy it unless you just want a fob for unlocking the car.
