A rare Sunrise Shell from the Island of Kauai. Sunrise Shells are difficult to find and were worn exclusively by Hawaiian Royalty back in the day. A necklace with a Sunrise Shell is a treasure in itself. There are two fabulous art pieces (the large Humuhumunukunukuapua`a and a smaller fish) by metal work artist Bob Burkett that are cast in "Sibuichi:" a mix of copper and silver originated in Japan as a way to cast extremely fine detail and patina. Look closely at the Humuhumu... he is blowing a pearl bubble. Then there is the handcrafted bronze honu (Hawaiian Sea Turtle) crafted by a local Kailua artist. Four Netsuke, miniature wooden sculptures hand carved reflecting aspects of Japanese folklore, dangle amidst pearls and aquamarine gemstones. These include a mermaid, group of fish, one playful octopus and another octopus that is hiding in a shell. The detail work of these are amazing and they are quite whimsical. The Sterling Silver lever back earrings are made with the same beautiful pearls with dangling aquamarine gemstones in the center. The earrings and necklace are sold as a set. This necklace is a work of art, showcasing works of art. The Sterling Silver clasp and bead caps are custom made just for this necklace. The length is 29" Someone suggested that it could even be worn as a belt even. I could see it worn at a Black Tie Event.
