Good- with some inaccuracies.
Very good reference book. However, there are some inaccuracies I’ve found with it. I purchased the new version to make sure it was exactly the same as the original (it is). There is a crystal variety called ‘Beryl’, which has various colors that are called different names~ Golden Beryl (Heliodor), Pink Beryl (Morganite), Red Beryl (Bixbite), (Light) Green Beryl, Darker Green Beryl (Emerald), Clear Beryl (Goshenite), Blue Beryl (Aquamarine), Dark Blue Beryl (Maxixe). Only Golden, Morganite, Bixbite & Emerald are listed under Beryl. Aquamarine is a well known Beryl and it’s not mentioned. On the next page Chrysoberyl is listed under Beryl when it is NOT a Beryl. It evens says, ‘A form of Beryl, Chrysoberyl’. If you look up Chrysoberyl online it says everywhere that it isn’t a Beryl. Maybe it was discovered to not be a Beryl after the first volume was published? I would think that they would try to remedy it in the new edition. I understand classifying those gems under Beryl, but why not write all of the stones- not just a few? The classification is not thorough throughout the book, (technically Citrine & Amethyst are Quartz- which could be mentioned). All of the varieties of the crystals could be mentioned (Beryl, Quartz, et cetera). I like how it is sorted- alphabetically, but there is still some organizing to be desired. I use this book as a reference. It would be nice if it was upheld to a scientific standard when actually sorting the crystals. I have other gem / geology books that are not as well organized, or as easy to utilize, but contain accurate information. Even though this is a New Age book, it would be nice to have information that is correct throughout. For now I will have to double check and compare to other reference books- which isn’t a bad thing- just annoying.

Classic guide for basic introductions to crystals.
The classic and original Crystal Bible, Judy Hall knows her stones. This is a perfect book for someone just starting on the journey with crystals, it's got most of the basics and is clear and concise. As you learn, you will want to add the later additions, which will cover lesser known stones. It covers things like energy, Mohs hardness scale, stone shapes, and a bit about Chakras. You can't go wrong with this one.

Crystal Bible for beginners and everyone else.
I love the way Judy puts this book together. She covers a lot of crystals. The pictures of them are very good. She goes into the healing properties, the placement, how to clean and charge them and everything else you need to know. It is easy to understand. It is one of the better books on crystals.

Great book!
This is a great book for any rock hound out there. It's well written, easy to read and very informational. I have to say, I learned a lot from it.Obviously it doesn't have every single crystal out there, but it's a great start.I like that I can easily go back and reference something, it makes it that much better.I'd love to get the others in the series.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn more about rock and crystals!
