I've worn Atizona model Birks for many years and still have a 4-year old pair I love. Noticed, however, that the lack of a heel strap on the Arizona means that I tend to carry a certain amount of tension in my right foot, particularly on stairs or when walking the hills around my home in Breckenridge (CO). Decided to try the Milano model model (for its heal strap) and I couldn't be happier the choice: it doesn't feel confining at all, but handles the up and down treks with elan. Love them!I second the advice on many reviews to maintain your older Birks' midsole with a coating of cork sealer every six months or so, particularly if you wear them in damp or muddy conditions as I do. Helps keep the critical cork layer from getting soaked and makes for longer life of your trusty Birks.

never thought about owning a pair of Birks but this year I decided why not? They seem like they run true to size. The construction looks sturdy and stylish and the tread on the sole seems like it will endure lots of walking...Very good looking sandal with back strap. Only have had for 1 week but happy so far.

These are very comfortable sandals and grow more comfortable over time. I did have a problem with them fitting looser in the straps than i would like, even on the tightest setting hole. I ended up adding my own holes to get the straps as tight as i prefer. I will say that i like my shoes and sandals to fit snugly so there is no slop in them when i walk. If you don't mind a little looseness, they should work fine for you. The foot bed fits well, so i would not recommend getting a smaller size to get tighter straps as the foot bed might not fit.

The shoe fits me perfect I wear them 5 days out of 7 my legs don't hurt the arch support is perfect for me thank you bye I rated a 100

I bought my last pair in 2011, I got a new pair a few weeks ago..Walked the sole off the last pair.. The things finally fell apart, my dog finished them off.. Very comfortable take a few days to break in though..

I initially bought this because I liked the feel of the arch support, but unfortunately, the straps just killed it for me. I tried walking in them around the house for one evening, and the straps just dug in too much.I'm not used to wearing sandals, so take it with a grain of salt. They did give the appearance of being very well-constructed. I just found the leather straps to be too abrasive.

Love Birkenstocks, this is my third pair. Men should be sure to order M not N for size. I normally wear 10.5 D, and the 42 M fit well.

My husband is extremely picky when it comes to shoes. He has wide feet, and lots of sandals hurt him. I finally convinced him to just get a pair of Birkenstocks, since those will be the most comfortable. He wears a 9 to 9 1/2 W, and the 42 M fits him. I did have to remind him that they take some breaking in, because at first he complained that the leather was chafing him a bit - but he'd only had them on for all of 1 minute. Now he seems perfectly content.
