For years I've been seeking an electric pepper grinder. But the ones you see in restaurants (or used to, when there were restaurants) cost north of $100. I'm a pensioner on a budget and have always considered such a purchase to be a foolish indulgence. But the thing is, I hate manual pepper grinders. They are uncomfortable to use and inefficient. And I love freshly ground pepper.Then I came upon this thing. It was affordable and its design and functionality were appealing. As I read about the blue light I almost dismissed it as hokey. I'm glad I didn't because after I bought this grinder, that blue light came in handy when seasoning my steak at a candle-lit dinner table. (Being a pensioner is not all bad.)It might be the most awkwardly named product on Amazon, but the purchase and setup experience went flawlessly. It arrived on time and was well packaged, reducing the likelihood of damage during shipping. When I removed it from its box the unit had a pleasing heft. It's plastic, but it incorporates heavy, thick plastic that should stand up to kitchen handling. The design is modern and attractive. I was afraid it would look cheesy but in real life it's classy.The product comes with a helpful one-page user guide. Be sure to have plenty of AAA batteries on hand. Assembly requires six of them, but their position and orientation are clear. After installing the batteries, the only other thing you need to do is fill the reservoir to no more than 80 percent of its capacity with fresh peppercorns. (The point of this product is fresh pepper, which is vastly superior to pre-ground pepper and has a wonderful bouquet while being ground. Don't spoil the experience by using year-old peppercorns from the back of your spice rack.)Once it's assembled, resist the temptation to try it on the spot. First, grab a small bowl and hold it under the unit. THEN turn it upside down and like magic the blue light comes on and the little motor whirs and out comes freshly ground pepper at just the right rate. Adjust the coarseness of the grind by twisting the white plastic knob at the center of the top of the unit, counter clockwise for more coarseness.This grinder has freed me from the tedium of endlessly rotating a mechanical unit that delivers a few stingy grains of pepper at a time. My only concern about this product is its longevity. Other owners have experienced premature failures and I intend to find the weak point (if in fact there is one) from the reviews and monitor that part of the grinder in the hope of catching and solving the problem before it happens.This is being written in mid-August 2020. In a few months I will revisit this review and provide feedback about daily usage. If the product fails before that time, I will report the failure immediately. All I can say at this point is that it works so well, I'm glad I took the plunge.

I am actually obsessed with this pepper grinder. I bought it so that I could make huge batches of food with pepper in it and I was somewhat stressed that I would have to hold down a button or something when using it. Not so. This awesome grinder is motion sensitive so the second it is upside down, it knows to grind and grind and keep grinding until you are ready and turn it right side up. It works very well and I love how convenient and easy it is to use. Battery powered so it can go for a long time before needing to have the batteries replaced.

I bought the rechargeable style of these to replace a different brand rechargeable I bought and didn't like. This one has none of the design issues I didn't like on the previous set, so I really like it. The previous one made a mess everywhere I set it down as it discharged from the bottom; plus it had buttons that I kept hitting when I picked up either piece, leaving another mess behind. It also struggled to grind peppercorns. This set is a great alternative to the other set, and also to manual grinding types. Those types tire out my hands and wrists whenever I need more than a small amount. I love that all I need to do is upend these to get all the salt or pepper I need, without having to shake the pepper dispenser to get it to grind, and no hand or wrist strain. Also, my favorite thing about these is NO MESS! No matter where I set them down, there's no mess left behind, and there's no button to push and hold. I also love that I can easily fill these in the nice-sized top opening instead of a difficult to remove lid over a tiny hole in the side, plus it holds a generous amount so won't need to be filled too often. You can easily see how much is left, so won't run out in the middle of dinner.The fact that they're rechargeable was the final reason I chose these-I hate having to put a ton of batteries in an item, and constantly having to replace them. Batteries get expensive, and are a pain, especially when rechargeable products are so easy to find.I can't speak to the longevity, but it seems like a very well made set. It was at a really great price point, and is an attractive set for table, counter, or anywhere.

Once I first saw this product, I couldn't wait to have it. I have bout 4 for gift as well. Now it's been a year the saltshaker does not work anymore on 2 of my items purchased. How do I contact seller?

These work extremely well. They are also adjustable for course or fine grinding. They are easy to handle and look nice on the table. The only negative is they use 6 batteries each but seem to last awhile.

This little grinder works well and is easy to use. I use it for peppercorns! No issues with it!!

We love our pepper grinder!! It is so wonderful and deluxe!! It makes grinding the peppercorns, incredibly easy and actually delightful♥️

The first one died after a year and a half or so - its predecessor lasted 15 years! But... it's cheap, and it really grinds tons of pepper super fast. The blue light is completely stupid - wish it were white. But overall it's a decent value and a great tool - so I got another after the 1st one bit it.

Has just broke in less than a year.

Sent me a used product ( there was salt and pepper dust in the glass jars ) on top of that, one of the grinders does not work. Definitely not happy with the product or the company. Already talked to Amazon customer service. Sending back for refund.

Overall a good product. Ease of using it and it helps that you just need 1 hand to operate. The only downside is that it operates via gravity, and the moment you tilt down it will start grinding which means less control as well. The salt and pepper will also tend to get stuck at the grinding area which you have to brush it off that could means to some wastage as well.

I already have one of these for a salt mill and as my pepper grinder stopped grinding I decided to purchase a pepper grinder to match the salt mill, I've had the salt mill for several years and only required to replace the batteries so it wasn't a difficult decision in purchasing the same again.
