Poor fit and lacks comfort with One positive consultation.
I'm hoping I am wrong but this pair of skateboard sneakers does not seem like the Van's I have purchased in the past. I ordered a half size larger than in the past and it actually fits smaller than the pair I am replacing. In addition the tongue is not padded at all. I would return this pair but (beware buyers) in some sizes there is a 50% reshelving fee. That means I could only receive half of the purchase price. If that is the case i will give these sneekers to someone in hopes that they fit anyone at the elder care center. I would like to say that this pair of Van sneekers in no way resembles in fit and comfort the Van's I have purchased in the past. I am surprised to see this is a big seller in the women's category. These sneeks are suppose to be unisex and are sized for both men and women. I know my shoe size especially in this brand and no way do they fit as expected. The lack of comfort is attributed to lack of padding in the tongue and cut out area surrounding the ankles.ADDENDUM: 5/13/2020. 3 DAYS AFTER RECEIVING DELIVERY. AMAZON BEING A CLASS ACT AS ALWAYS ACCEPTED MY RETURN AND CREDITED MY ACCT WITHIN HOURS(USUALLY TAKES SEVERAL DAYS). I DID NOT GET WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BASED ON PREVIOUS PURCHASES OF THIS BRAND BUT I WILL NOT HESITATE TO TRY AGAIN USING AMAZON AS MY PURCHASING AGENT WITH UNFORTUNATELY A BRAND I AM less familiar but has accurate sizing.

Better than a GriGi
So this is a secondary review after spending more time with the Lifeguard:After doing more lead climbing with the Lifeguard the performance has gotten much better. I have also been able to compare it more to a GriGri. Using a 9.9mm rope the operation is butter smooth and the feel for lowering is much better. I have gotten to master control of the rope in my brake hand and can hold it off to the side (like you would with a GriGri) and control braking while balancing the pull on the lowering handle. With larger gym ropes or larger lead ropes there is still a tendency to have too much friction which can lock up the cam when paying out slack quickly. However, with my 9.9 slack payout is great, and the cam still locks up very positively with a load on it and does not slip one bit and allows for easier braking when a climber needs a rest. More an more people in my gym are taking to it for its size, excellent construction, and easy use over a GriGri. I still don't think it deserves 5 stars because of its less than perfect performance with larger diameter ropes, but I'm happier with the Lifeguard than I was after using it the first few sessions. Give it some time and learn how to use it properly and it will pay off.Original Review:I really want to give this five stars but I can't because I keep going back to my ATC and this ends up sitting in my bag as a backup or for anyone that forgets a belay device.Pros:1. It's smaller and lighter than a GriGri2. Construction is very solid and the metal handle feels very sturdy.3. The cam lock-up is very tight and holds climbers very well and engages at just the right point. Slack can be payed out without it locking up but with adequate force or a fall it locks tight and does not slip.4: Cool factor. Everyone that sees it has to ask what it is and if they can use it.Cons:1. Lowering a climber takes very precise control of the handle. Because the handle is short to fit the footprint of the device it is difficult to grasp it with a full hand and control decent. Additionally lowering seems to be either too slow or too fast, finding the sweet spot is very difficult for me.2. When lowering, unlike a GriGri the rope has to be directly in front of the device for it to feed back into the device smoothly. If held off to the side it creates too much drag and there is no wear plate for the rope to glide over.Summary:Unfortunately I am going to stick with my tried and true ATC and this will be my backup belay device. An ATC I feel gives me greater control and feedback. I think the Lifeguard is well designed and would last many years of climbing and use. Perhaps I have not given it enough time after about a dozen climbing sessions of testing, and if that changes this review will be modified, but for now it is not my #1 belay device.

Nice shoes
Bought these for my daughter with white bottom. They came all black. They work with her skate board which is why I bough them but disappointed it isn’t exactly what I ordered.

154 grams, not 119
This is 154 grams, not 119 as stated in the description. The GriGri2 is listed as 170 grams, which measured accurately on my scale.Other than that, it works well, quite like a GriGri2. I am right handed, and when lowering, the rope automatically curls over the right side to provide extra friction. Like the GriGri2, it is biased for right side use.Feeding out rope for lead is definitely nicer. You don't have to awkwardly hold the device closed to prevent catching and short roping the climber. This was the primary reason for my purchase.Basically it's a GriGri2 with a modified shape and therefore slightly different braking characteristics. So far it works well and will update the review as I get more use.Slightly disappointed at the actual weight. Maybe they added a little extra material as compared to the prototype, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Not the bargain it seems
Debating how genine these are I’m on my second pair the split on the front on both sets in the same places. Weird sizing as seen bigger than usual and look different to the ones purchased directly from vans. Thought I was getting a mega bargain but don’t know why but there is something wrong with them. Unless it’s a “seconds batch”? The pictures attached are the same style the ones on the right brought from vans directly over 14 months old I purchased new ones as those weren’t looking the best anymore as you can see and the ones on the left I had delivered on the 22nd of March and both have Been worn on average of 2 days a week they are the same size too by the way! Huge difference

Super cute shoes!
Super fun, really cute shoes. They've more height on them than most other Vans, which are typically quite flat, so a bit of a platform is a nice change. They're great for everyday wear if you want something comfortable but funky. The pattern is super bright and attractive, and they look great on.They are a little tight in the width initially, but loosen out with a bit of wear. I'd suggest stuffing them with newspaper for a day before wearing.A woman's size 6 usually fits me perfectly and the 6 was a perfect fit for me, too.

😍
Love, love, love these shoes! The only slight issue is have is that the print is like a paint print and will wear off eventually... I don't really want that to happen or know how long it will take... So I am not going to wear them all the time.Definitely worth owning though, especially as they are limited edition! ❤

Lovely shoe. Fit a bit large
These shoes are fab, the printing is lovely and good quality. They come up a little large. I am a 7, but a 6.5 would probably have fit better - still contemplating a swap?! Think it's because the toes of the shoe is long and they are a wide fit. Apart from that love these shoes.

I love these shoes
I love these shoes. Have bought two pairs now, as the first ones were worn out. I wear them for my waitressing job all the time; very comfortable and looks subtle/smart. I sometimes wear them for casual wear too. Will buy another pair once these have worn out!
