Anastasia: The New Broadway Musical - Piano, Vocal and Guitar Chords

I wanted to love it. It's...fine.
I really want to love this book. I've been enamored with the music from the movie since I was a kid and fell equally in love with the Broadway versions. I waited until I'd had the book a while to write the review and honestly it's....fine. A lot of my issues may just be up to preference:Pros - Very full accompaniment - The pieces are in the same keys as the show - It's got all the songs you want - It has multiple vocal lines on some songsCons - Some of the chords are so big that I physically can't play them (I have small hands, so playing five notes at once in one hand is only possible if there are no black keys...which is never the case in this book) - It's hard to keep the book open. This is minor. Yes, I've broken the spine 18,402 times. At this point it might be worth it to just chop off the binding and get it spiral bound. - At some points the accompaniment is so full that you have to pedal like crazy to keep the sound from becoming a hot, muddy mess. Not a pro or a con, but it should be noted that the key signatures in this get a bit wild. Most of the songs have 6 flats or sharps at some point and a lot of them utilize double flats and sharps freely. Overall, this is a pretty decent book. I just don't pull it out as often as I thought I would because my hands hurt after trying to play that many enormous five note chords. If you have larger hands, this probably won't be an issue for you. Enjoy! (just don't break your fingers. :) )

the binding is so much better and is worth having in addition to the movie ...
For starters, if you have the book for the movie soundtrack, the binding is so much better and is worth having in addition to the movie music book. The arrangements mostly contain the melody in the right hand; for those parts that don't, it is fairly simply to add it yourself. The arrangements are not too difficult themselves and are in the style typical to the writers; lots of running eighth notes in the left hand, lush chords in the right that are meant to sprain your fingers. The arrangement for 'Once Upon a December' is missing the interlude and the final key change. The arrangement for 'Journey to the Past' differs from the movie by having more movement in the right hand. The additional songs written for the show are a nice addition and justify owning both this and the book for the movie (for those who wonder if having both is too much).

I loved the arrangements!
I'm not super good at piano, and many of the chords use all five corners and just about break your fingers, bug i was able to play some of the songs. The music is arranged just like in the musical and is very beautiful.

Book was worn and bent upon arrival.
The book was bent and pretty worn when I received it. This is the second book I’ve ordered, trying to get a nice copy for a birthday gift for my daughter.

Makes my teen very happy
My daughters have been fans of the Disney movie for years and then recently saw a touring production of Anastasia and fell in love with that as well. My 16-year old got this for Christmas and loves it. (She actually got it from two people and one had to return--Amazon happily complied--yay Amazon). She uses it to play piano with it, violin, or voice. Really great!

Beautiful score
This book is easy to follow along with and the music is just stunningly good. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful!
This is the original accompaniment. There are vocal selections and then piano/vocal/guitar. The vocal selections book does not play the melody in the accompaniment. If you want that, then you will want to get the piano/vocal/guitar version.

Great!
It was everything I hoped for. The arrangements are not too dumbed down like other easy piano books. It retains all of rhe essence. One thing though, there are a couple typos, however. For example, in "In my dreams", various of the chords F7 are actually supposed to be F2. In "My Petersburg" one note is a G while it is supposed to be an A. Besides that though, it's all fantastic.

Good, but missing song
It is missing "the land of yesterday", apart from that it's excellent.

Extra!
Égale à la comédie musicale même si ce n'est pas les mêmes chanteurs que j'ai entendus.

I love this musical so much
I love this musical so much! The accompaniment is very good. Most pianists don't seem to have any issues playing when I bring it to them to sing.

Five Stars
Nice selection of songs, straight forward accompaniments. Correct keys and included the new songs written for this revival.
