The first thing I noticed was that I didn't receive Air Bear filters. Technically, this is not false advertising because nowhere does it say that they are selling you Trion Air Bear filters. They say they are selling REPLACEMENT filters for Air Bear. The fact that they show a picture of genuine Air Bear filters is highly misleading and boarders on false advertising.Now that we are past that issue, we move on to review the supplied filters. They did indeed fit well and are the exact same dimensions as Air Bear. As for the construction, I can not tell the difference between the two. One issue I had was that my old Air Bear filters were apparently manufactured before the term MERV was invented, so I do not know what their MERV rating was. I tried counting the folds to compare the two filters, but they were about the same, so I can not tell if the Air Bears were "better" than these new replacements.I would recommend caution when looking at a filter's MERV. Like many things, more is not necessarily better. I want a low MERV. A lower MERV will not filter as well, but the trade off is that a higher MERV restricts air flow. The effect of buying filters with too high a MERV is equivalent to decreasing the overall size of your AC and it will have to work harder for the same amount of cooling. I learned about this when I installed the optional HEPA filter in my new vacuum cleaner. Sure, the HEPA filter filtered great, but the vacuum lost most of its suction power. I took the HEPA filter bag off. I don't need it.These filters may indeed be as good as Air Bear, but I did not give them 5 stars because of their misleading advertising. So how much did I save by not buying genuine Air Bear? I saved $5.14 or $2.07 on each of the two filters. If you really want Air Bear, do your search for "genuine Air Bear filters".I have decided to add the following to all my reviews:Beware! Some "reviewers" will trash a product for no reason simply because they are paid to do so or because they sell competitive products. Other "reviewers" will give products - that they have never seen and never used - glowing 5 star ratings - for a fee. Some honest reviewers do not understand what a product is for or how to use it and will trash a product simply because they are just plain dumb. And the biggest of companies have been heavily fined for hiring an army of “reviewers” to review their products.

We recently replaced our oil burning furnace with a high efficiency natural gas furnace. The installer suggested the Trion Air Bear 5-inch MERV 8 filter. The pack of two filters came promptly. It was easy to install and performs well.

These are filters. They filter the air. They were less expensive than the filters in the store, and appear to be better made. I are happy.

The title and picture of this listing is very deceiving. These are replacement filters! I agree, it is my fault for not reading through the entire description and not seeing they are OEM replacement. However, these are NOT 20x20x5. I agree they exact size is listed in the description and it doesn't seem like a big difference. However, when I line my GENUINE filter up with the OEM filter, there is a good 2 inches difference on the side and a good 1/2 inch on the side! I tried to put it in the filter holder attached to my furnace/central air and it is too small to be held in place by the tracks. Am going to attempt to return. Will let you know how it goes!
